Denon has more features. They designed the 1850 in mind with using the sc6000s. If you are using dual layer in your mixes it becomes clear that the 1850 is the best option. You can use all memory devices across all 4 decks, customize channel colors for staying organized, real time bpm data for effects. The sweep effects have dials on all4 channels. The cross fader and channel contour have dials instead of 3 switch options. I was going to get a xone but the 1850 makes it more fun to play dual layers and is way more intuitive. The filter and eq kill are essential! The edit menu is very cool as well. Pioneer is just not up to speed these days.

Can you assign the effects to a channel with the Denon’s like you can with the Pioneers?

I have x1850 mixer and I would like to see the spiral effect on it. I like the white noise effect on denon more than pioneer. Thanks for share

I have both as well. I don't like the effects on the Denon at all. They seem more suited for Techno. I had the Denon X1800 and when I got it I thought the faders were too loose. But I find the faders on the X1850 too stiff. The effects especially Spiral on the Pioneer are much better. When you put the depth level at max on the Pioneer, that effect will hang on forever. The X1850 can't do that. The utility is simple on the X1850. Pioneer is confusing. Especially just to unlock the damn thing. Denon sound quality is better. Never like the sound quality of the Pioneer mixers. The layout was always the draw. The DJM 900NXS2 does sound better than previous versions, but not legendary. The USB hub of the X1850 is a big plus. I hate hubs and more wires. If they both cane out at the same time, I think it would be a fair comparison. The Denon just picks up where Pioneer left off. The biggest plus for Pioneer is resale. Denon sucks in resale.

Yeah, think most of the main effects on My older digital Pioneer Mixers right side are usually not that great & roll worked better on CDJ 400s than there mixers. Your right the sound quality on Pioneer isn't usually as good, though the same 900NXS2 programming is on Rekordbox that is on the hardwares firmware & does sound a bit nicer than previous 400/700/800/ Digi range. My Denon X1500 was a good mixer & effects very usable. Sound quality was better but not as good as my Xone 42. Only issue is the Pioneer being everywhere you use them, plus I can repair/service them easily & parts a easily accessible.

The X1800 faders have similar feel to A&H upfaders, while the X1850 added grease to them because a lot of people complained.

Great Vid - Since theres a Midi port is the mixer midi mappable? Map the Sweep fx Knobs to Resonance controls or Just 1 knob to control all the Resoonace for all the Filter knobs and just remember that Channel 1 has no Sweep effects .

In my opinion, the parameter knob on the pioneer is big difference, I really don't think to have the time, to go through the utility menu all the time to change every parameter

The noise on the pioneer is the same from 12 - 5 o'clock as 7 - 12 o'clock. Hard to explain but listen carefully. It's the same. Low to high swoosh. Denon from 12 - 5 has the classic noise but 12 - 7 is choppy which is also great for build ups.

hi guys! I have a friend that I buy the complete equipment of Denom the highest SC6000M with his Mixer, and I can tell you that he returned it and changed it for Pioneer's(djm NX2 and cdj 3000), it is more expensive, but it has nothing to do, under my opinion, we were Testing and the sound of the mixer we did not like, I had many acutes, a greeting

@@TheDJLab do you still think this is the case today with the updates? Granted spiral is sweet, but the fx on the denon seem pretty tight to me. I don't have never had both in the same place for comparison though

Are crossfader and faders 900nxs parts/disassembly much better than x1850? If not, I really think that Pioneer price relies on the standard industry. So, 99% of DJs use echo, reverb, noise,, and filter, both work well with these mixers. Pioneer costs at least twice more. It's not reasonable

The Pioneer mixers have a strange "synthetic" sound quality that make the sound "flat". The bass of every song sounds the same. Yeah, easy to mix but as I am trained in soundenginering that makes me wonder. The same with players and controllers. Denon, Allen&Heat or any similar mixers have a more "life" sound to the them, more dynamic. Denon have it's flaws to but it easier to overcome than Pioneer.
@Reticuli

Sort of agree on their mixers. Bloated, same-ish bass and lower-midrange that doesn't seem as punchy. Also sounds synthetic and lacking realism across its spectrum. The Denon X18xx and Xone analogs will have more physical sound while not bloated or uniformly synthetic. IMO, the Xone DB4 has the most 'analog'--like and least synthetic sound from the digital DJ mixers, but is more refined and clean than any analog mixer I've heard. MP2015 is the most detailed and transparent to the original signal, with zero grain or mud added, supremely 'tight', fast, and precise, and with an inner light to the upper midrange. I do think the new Denon mixers sound over-damped, with truncated decay, and have a slight grainy or granular quality at times, can sound discontinuous from the top to bottom, dark in the bass, uplift in the top octave energy, while the mids can seem scooped and might not gel with the rest as well as it could, and can sometimes even seem like the sound is being squeezed through a pinhole. These signatures might have been reduced slightly with firmware updates, in addition to prior problems with their internal trim levels and limiting that they claim has been improved. The Denons also continue to get FX updates. All these mixers measure flat and low distortion, though, so there's all sorts of weird stuff with subtle and difficult-to-measure phasing, transient attack difference at the various bands, and impulse ringing (and even pre-ringing) that might be contributing to some of this from their DSP techniques. Nyquist might be theoretically perfect, but in practice there are always trade-offs in implementation. "The same with players" I would not agree with that, though. Edit: The X1850 apparently continues to have a defective 96khz mode that the X1800 isn't afflicted. The X1800 generally has more stable firmware, too.
