There is certainly an audience for such a top of the line mixer with high granularity of effect tweaking. Removing the crossfader makes sense if you have more than 2 channels. I can't remember when I used it the last time. Anyhow, finally a good reason to sell my Rodec MX180.

i'm surprised they didn't make it rotary.. funny @digitaldjtips, you JUST said that as i was typing this. wow. and yeah if i was going to spend that much now, it would be a hard choice between this or an Alpha Recording System Model 9100 which i've had my eyes on for a long time. i really don't need 6 channels but i like the extra granularity the V10 has on, well, everything. but i'm kinda old school and don't use much effects. mainly just the filter. prob just go with the ARS 9100 and could always ad outboard effects if i really needed to.

it's 1 of the best analog Mixer's if you can find a really good one still, i had a 2001 and 2002. it teach's you how to Mix good also with no yellow EQ just green and red

I have a V10 it seems to me that the LF version is made to give an alternative to fans of Xone mixers and in particular the Model 1. I find the version with fader 45 (faster) more comfortable and already excellent in the set.up curves. The cross-fader besides being necessary for pure scratch allows super quick changes and combined with the send effects on channels type 5-6 you can create particular sounds. Pioneer choice that I don't understand and think it's a nice alternative but it doesn't change the life of the DJ. The space on the LF could fit + 60mm long and still less complete mixer than the V10. Carlo ITALY

I wonder why pioneer chose to do it this way, instead of releasing the V10 with the replaceable faceplates (like the DJM-1000). The way formula sound does it as well.

for me its not so much that i want to scratch as maybe i want to chop stuff from side to side or just drop things in briefly but also a cross fader frees up a hand which is er ..handy.I get that many djs dont touch the cross fader so its just in the way for them but with this style mixer for me i would need another arm .

That's a point that gets lost. A crossfader is not just for scratching. Back in the 80's pre house and house days, we would use it for doubling, drop ins. Acappella mixing etc. DJ's now do this digitally... mostly because they have lost the ability to beat match. A crossfader helps get the party live - where you had to catch the breaks. That's the way the music was made back then. It's not just for turntablism.

I have a Zoom F6 to record my mixes. This recorder only uses XLR inputs. However, the V10 mixer only has RCA for record out. What do you recommend for me to use (cable wise) to record from this mixer to my recorder? Gonna use to record at home not at a venue. Was thinking Mogami RCA to XLR. Not sure though. Thanks for your input.

Digital DJ Tips I just received my Pioneer DJM V10 and I have a question: when I preview via Cue link with the CDJ 3000 the volume level is much higher than listening via Cue on any channel of the V10, is this behavior normal? Thank you.

I would love to have not to long fader but more loose like crossfader so i can do insane manual gater effects for individual tracks... how you ppl play without crossfader... would be cool to have app so i could create macros there and send it to the mixer so i could use them with a "crossfader"

The model 1 doesn't have a cross fader either. That said it also doesn't have onboard effects like the pioneer. Is this still supported by traktor?

Ugghh, I was just going to buy the V10, now I need to decide if I want to do without the cross fader, I’m just not sure. I learned how to DJ in 1999 with an old Urei rotary mixer, I might have went for this model of it was rotary, which is a weird thing to say.

Whithout crossfader this mixer will be a Flop in my opinion.. but the V 10 is really a good mixer toe to toe with Model 1 ( or Near that level ). Another and less expensive choiche still The XONE db4😉 or the NI traktor kontrol S8

I wonder how many units of this type are sold they are very expensive and niche it must take ages to recoup the development costs and newer models will be released. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong just a very different business model from, say, an iPhone that sells millions.

The announcement of LF mixer could be done at the same time as regular version of V10, it's a shame on pioneer for that. I bought V10 in december of 2020 and if LF version was available at that time i would defiantly purchased LF mixer since i like to play house and i never use crossfader. Stupid move by Pioneer! Pioneer take my regular vesion of V10 and give me LF instead, it's still on a warranty.

Honestly shocked pioneer came out with it. Most dont want to travel or carry it. Most venues and festivals dont have them yet. I feel like this is way too expensive over the a9. Its an amazing mixer no doubt but only dj's like carl cox will carry them on tour lol

Seems like a waste to me why not make the whole thing modular where the channel block could pop out and people could just pick what they wanted feeders with grass feeder, long feeders, or rotaries. Easier to manufacture that way since you only have to swap out one component.

There is still room for a crossfader, it's weird that they didn't put the long fader directly on the first version. A rotary alternative would have been indeed a better alternative (but keeping the crossfader) It's the kind of mixer that are suposed to be the new club standard, so something that lot of different DJ will use, not having a crossfader makes it less versatile (and the worst of it is that this version is more expensive...)

Yes it is interesting that this is MORE expensive than the original. That said, I don't think this is trying to be the club standard, as it will take a lot to dislodge the DJM-900NXS2, and why would they want to? Most DJs are happy with that type of layout, this is a bit more specialist.

If I had the money I would totally buy the V10 (with crossfader), but as a DJ who also like to scratch, I'm a little disapointed that they choose to get rid of the crossfader for this version. There is no great mixer with long fader AND great crossfader (Allen are ok but not that great for scratching), and I'm sure there are more people who like to have long fader AND crossfader than long fader without crossfader (but I'm probably wrong, as they - I hope - surely did a market study before launching that)

Appreciate the video but I don't think you quite nailed why the crossfader isn't needed ESPECAILLY with a 6-channel mixer, even a 4 -channel mixer doesn't need a crossfader. The point being that a crossfader can only fade between 2 channels. ONLY a 2-channel mixer NEEDS a crossfader. THAT's the point don't why it's so hard to explain. Edit: To the point I just made nobody needs a 6-channel mixer if they are only going to mix 2 tracks together. Unless you have some retarded need to add effects and other strange tricks to add to your mixing because you lack the ability to find two amazing tracks that speak for themeselves and mix them together at any given time. SMH at modern DJs.
