I have an asusTufFx504 I used to have unbearable power throttling and stutters I cleaned my pc and I rebooted my PC to fabric.I used softwares like advanced sytem cleaner Updated all my drivers and i undid the power throttling in the registery(check how to get it) Then i made a power management setting that makes cpu max at 95:% so it doesnt throttle. A year later : have same laptop, same problem. Cinebench test score 26xx, but then suddenly throttle at 35w 2.2GHz :). Found out all you need is undervolt it (mine is -375mV on CPU and -125mV on Cache and Intel GPU) and let it cool a bit. Love your rant btw, feel you bro.

Hello friend, not long ago I acquired this same model and testing games the fps were somewhat low for their components between 40 and 60, in games like LoL then reinstall windows and update the bios thus giving me almost 240 and more fps but of the 240 fps low Even at 100 I see a lot of fluctuation. I also wanted to ask you if the tdp remains rigid or varies according to the use, using the intel etu I left that the 6 cores were active, which was then only 1 and the 6 were activated in somewhat heavy tasks but they vary, also all this is due to the problems you mention in your video or maybe something else? The tdp varies depending on use (of course). Try monitoring the cpu & gpu whilst playing, see if there are any abnormalities. It will use different amount cores depending on the usage. Thermal throttling happens with or without intel xtu (with extended period of time during load), but xtu makes it power limit throttling.

Just don't buy the cheaper tuf laptops. You get what you pay for. The RoG ones are fine. Other TUF products outside laptops are also great, take for example the TUF RTX 3080 which doesn't have any issues whereas other companies faced severe issues with the 3080 card.

Service center and updates for most of it, but i found that certain apps may cause power limit throttling. The gpu is fixed with undervolting but a few months later after this video was made, it is fixed by driver updates (I suppose) but I still keep the undervolt anyways.

hello, I dont have an aSUS tuf like this, but I have an acer nitro 5. I dont know why, but one day my computer was horrible and it stayed that way. What i've noticed is that the closer I have my laptop to like the brick of the charger the better. Like it could be at 90 close and 40 normal. Can I do anything to fix this?

I tried everything. Even undervolting. Nothing helped. Yesterday i found out that my system was power throttling. I went to the computer shop to ask about it, he doesnt even know what power throttling is. Checking for help online. Soo far nothing. Its pointless doing any task on my laptop thanks to the power throttling. It will immediately drop the clockspeed from 2.5 to 1.6 to 1.9 and because of this, everything stutters. Really regret not taking this to the dell service center while it was in warranty, and this power throttling is technically not my fault, but the system defect itself. I dont even know why would i need to shell out anything from my side to fix this issue. If i knew about all this 4 years back, i would never get this system in the first place. Sry bro but undervolting just didnt help.

Considering how long you have your laptop, I'm pretty sure it's overheating due to the thermal paste drying up. I highly recommend changing the thermal paste.

Technically when my pkg power crosses over 15W, the power is immediately reduced to 9-10W, and it will stay there until the program is closed. So this basically affected everything, including games, multi tasking etc. Then by chance i visited a forum and they said to use the powercut method to fool the cpu into thinking that the pkg power is always below 15W. Done!! Now i get constant 2.5ghz speed and it will never downclock (except if it thermal throttles). So yea this fixed the problem. now i only need to change the thermal paste and boom!!! Gaming Time!! P.S i rechecked your vid and it turns out that you have powercut disabled for your laptop. 1:43

Bro I have Asus Tuf FX 504GD and have never encounteted any problem about trottling. Just put The fan-mode to overboost and at least for me The temeperature never goes up more Than 60 degrees. Also, my CPU is at 45w.

Hello Bro ! I can see u are still answering people! I have real problem . I Have this ASUS TUF GAMING FX504 Series laptop with nvidia 1060 gb6 i7-8750H 8GB RAM 256SSD and 1000HDD inside. The problem is the laptop is getting really hot in really quick time. And this laptop can't cool it's self. I know there is a silent , balanced and overboost cooling mode but it's not enough. You have to know like Fortnite game. I play it and everything is fine. Laptop is getting hot really quickly but it still works great. But if i play like 1h more it start to drop fps from like 120fps to 20fps . Any options what can i do? Well i can say i'm updating graphics card drivers all the time.

Well, mine's 1050 Ti, can't copy mine for sure. Well, you gotta find the right settings on your own, even the same gpu will have different settings, cause it's not all the same. There's tutorials out there, just make sure that the settings that you use is stable.

Yes, hwmonitor is causing the problem, but first, BIOS update and drivers are needed to fix the problem. I undervolt it just for lower temps and a slight boost in performance.

I have a predator helios 300 and I have the same problem.. I had some problems with the gpu right from the day of purchase so I gave it to the manufacturer for troubleshooting and they changed the whole mother board It worked fine for months and now nearly a year in Im facing same problems my gpu is not hitting the boost clock bench marks 1404MHZ it's drop to 900 or 700 mhz which results in fps drops to 11 fps from 60 and again and again for few second it works smooth and again fps drop while gaming this is really annoying ... how do I fix this help

don't replace thermal paste, your laptop is still new, there's no need to. Try monitoring the cpu and gpu while playing, see which one is causing the lag spike.

This laptop is not working as it should. I have the same issues + more. My biggest issue is, no matter what game I play, I get stable fps (way to low for what it should be) and then it drops to 2-3 fps for a couple of sek. Goes back to being stable for 3-5 min. Then drops again. I have spent countless hours trying to fix it with guides, updates, reboot ect. Nothing works. I didnt allways have this issue, when I got the pc it worked fine, but now after around 7 months, it cant even play the simplest games on worst graphic settings without this drop in fps.

This might sound weird but getting a cold blanket and putting it on the keyboard where it is hottest it can help also getting a laptop cooler. Pio would getting a moniter help because you would use less power.

@@Ironman-lr4td The laptop intakes air from both the keyboard and the bottom. You can actually feel it intaking air from the keyboard if you put it on overboost. Try closing the lid of the laptop (change the setting so it doesn't go to sleep) and stress test it. The keyboard will get really hot and so does the internals.

When the laptop is charging, it can use a lot more power which gives more performance, but that also means more heat. Should you undervolt? Definitely, you won't be losing any performance but get less heat. Should you change the thermal paste? If it has been over 1 year and gets hotter than usual, I would recommend changing it .

You can use the ASUS EZ flash that's already in your laptop, or you can put it in a flash disk and flash the BIOS from there. I recommend looking up for tutorials if you need more clarity, there's lots out there and it's pretty simple.
