Very very COOL, I like the way you think! I pitcher you having another carrage, controler and torch, so you just need to swap out the computer cable, soon. From the first time that I saw the pipe cutter attachment I thought they should be two machines. Thanks for sharing:) Keith

The video shows every step involved in making a stand alone pipe cutter to use with the PlasmaCam line of tables and machines. He did a great job, with the possible exception of not purchasing an additional carriage along with his additional gantry tube. A magnetic mount and a bit of geometry would have made it dirt simple to move the TORCH from the table's carriage to the pipe cutter's carriage and then you just cut! The video shows what a PITA it is just to move the carriage from the table to the pipe cutter. With an additional carriage, and perhaps even an additional torch for his plasma machine, he would only be moving two control cables and plugging in the AUX torch into the plasma machine. YES, this all requires a lot of money! If you are going to do a lot of pipe cutting, I STRONGLY suggest the investment into the additional gantry assembly, an additional carriage assembly, and perhaps an additional plasma torch or a magnetic mount for quick torch transfer from table to pipe cutter and back again.

This is so cool. I don't have a need for something like this but I still want one for myself just to watch it in action. I really want to convert my everlast plasma cutter to a 2 axis CNC though. that would be super useful.

I love the jig. I need more jigs for my everlast plasma cutter. It is very useful as is but I can certainly do better and make it even more useful with some simple jigs.

Awesome job! I appreciated the quiet! :) Is there a reason to not add jigs on the table instead of moving across to the separate rig? Always trying to learn. Thanks!

Darren Nichols that right. It save about 15 min.for moving across to the separate rig than add jigs on the table.

Are you using a specific add-in for DE, or are you just using the basic DE and 'faking it' for your cut geometry?
@joeinkentucky5 жыл бұрын
It is possible to cut pipe without the pipe cutting software, but you don't get the clunky PlasmaCam pipe cutting rollers and drive, etc. without the software.

I take it that there were no speaking roles available for this movie. Good idea in separating the two as you mentioned in your comments it saves time having a separate jig for the pipe cutting. Do not have a Plasmacam as yet but looking forward to a purchase soon.Are there any negatives that you find with the Plasmacam as I have read both good and bad things about them.My thinking is most of the Negatives are Ford people who are getting a lift home in a Chev?. Maybe?.

When purchasing the pipe cutting attachment, does PlasmaCAM supply a separate software package or is a just an extra module of the original software? Can you tell us more about the software part of it? because PlasmaCAM's website it very short on details.
@joeinkentucky5 жыл бұрын
When you put DesignEdge software onto your computer, ALL of the software is there. PlasmaCam decided to make their software more affordable by allowing people to purchase ONLY those upgrades they need, without paying for all of them. so BASIC DesignEdge has several upgrades (at about $998.00 each) that allow you to add features as you need them and can afford them. The software is not added to your license. The individual upgrades you purchase are only "activated."

Git out! Seriously? If that is the case then I apologize profusely. And on a serious note, what was your goal in separating the pipe cutter from the main machine?
@gunsmokenix8 жыл бұрын
+T. Greening watch my video, pipe cutting attach to plasma table (not seperate) Click this kzbin.info/www/bejne/pHSsmqqjrMuBobs that why it took me long time to set up attach pipe cutting to table and take pipe cutting off the table. It take me about 20 to 30 min to set up pipe cutting to table. About five min to set up from plasma table to pipe cutting stand. Fast time to change.
@joeinkentucky5 жыл бұрын
@@tgreening The PlasmaCam pipe cutter REQUIRES you to partially disassemble your table in order to reconfigure the gantry tube into the pipe cutter, which would normally mount to the rails on the side of the table. Then to cut with the table again, you need to reverse the process. It is a total PITA! He purchased a SEPARATE gantry assembly and set it up as a stand alone unit, using a square tube to substitute for the table rail the pipe cutter was designed to rest upon.

The video is well done. It shows you, step by step, te process for creating and using a stand alone pipe cutter with the PlasmaCam table. He did not point out the fact that you need a second gantry tube assembly, but other than that, the video was well done.
@johnjames50206 жыл бұрын
That's a lot of money ($5000?) just to avoid having to switch your Plasmacam table back and forth. You much cut a ton of tube to justify it. Too bad it can't cut square tube.
@joeinkentucky5 жыл бұрын
It actually CAN cut square tube, but that requires a bit more modification! With BOTH the Advanced Height Control Upgrade and the Customizable Size Upgrade, and a 4" or 6" Z-axis modification, you CAN cut square tubing. John Derby makes a 4" Z mod for the PlasmaCam, and I will soon offer a 6" Z backing plate and ACME screw!
@joeinkentucky5 жыл бұрын
The PlasmaCam pipe cutter requires you to partially disassemble your table in order to remove the gantry and then configure it into the pipe cutter. As you can see in the video, this man purchased an additional gantry tube assembly so he did not have to remove the gantry from his table. YES, to properly set up a stand alone pipe cutter, you should purchase an additional gantry assembly, and additional carriage assembly, and an additional plasma torch to plug into your plasma machine. Put the whole thing on rollers and wheel it out when you need it!
