I noticed in a dewalt ad that some of the grinders are listed as AC/DC and wondered what current your welder supplies to run them? Another really good video. Good see Jeb and Thank the crew you welded with for their time on the videos I appreciate the chance to see this. If it wasn't for skilled tradesmen we still be huntin with stones!

Good pipeline video. You guys seem to be having fun! Can you tell me where to buy one of those units that are attached to the welding leads that are used to control the amps while welding? I think it is a remote amp control. I see videos where the welder is telling his helper "up" then "down" to change the amps with this small box. Thanks.

Miss that Big Time. Was a Helper . Before breaking out. Commercial Oilfield. Most say to be a helper on pipeline for one year. No matter what your experience level. Even a Rigwelder. If you want to pipeline wash those dishes for one year. Before you open your restaurant.
@kristianskov48416 жыл бұрын
.....so what you are saying is, you gotta scratch someones ass for a year, before getting a real job? I don´t understand why a welder need a helper. Where I´m from, if you lay down the weld, you do your own clean up. Seems to me, that some welders - mayby not you, sir - acts like little princesses.... But it might be me, not understanding the way its done in your country. (note: none of this is meant too offend you, sir......)

It’s all about speed brother. If you add up all the time grindin/Buffin/ grabbing new rods etc, it takes its toll especially over say a 50mile ROW that may have 300/400 or whatever welds on it. Time is $$ playa and everyone out there is Huntin that money! Great video bro keep it up!

Hey man, I'm just getting ready to graduate from a welding school here in SC, and I plan on going to the pipeline. Every pipeline rig ive ever seen has had a Lincoln SAE250-300, never any Miller Big Blues or PipePros. I myself am I Miller fan, but have never welded with a Miller engine drive. Whats your opinions on Miller Engine Drives? Does anyone on your pipeline run one?

Even old and kinda crippled up, love the way your videos make me want to get out and weld. I was ok at welding but these videos of yours make me realize how much better I could have been. Keep em coming please. There was a small section of pipe I could see from the highway. They were working just like your videos. I have seen tons of pipe on trucks on the highway, green coated, beveled ends ! Always kinda wondering, now I know thanks to you.

You guys make me wish I was 21 and fresh out of the Army again, so I could try what y'all are doin! Yeah man! Well I do have a question for you, if I may? Do these lines that are sitting on these stacks of 4x4's get buried or does another crew come by afterwards and put some sort of permanent support under the pipe? Also, are there different welding procedures for burying the line or leaving it exposed? Thanks for your videos and helping to build America! God bless and keep you safe! Peace.
@pipeliner03466 жыл бұрын
patrick farley , after the pipe gang and firing line come through coating comes through after all welds are shot, ditching comes, then lowering in, hdd, tie ins, back fill etc. There's a lot more to it than one would think.
@patrickfarley80366 жыл бұрын
pipeliner 03 Thanks for the reply. Actually, after having been an Army Combat Engineer and then into the construction trades, the amount of hands on any given project is not lost on me! See now, my only experience with pipelines was my military training on protecting ours and blowing up there's!😉 Still curious if there are different welding procedures or materials used if the line will be buried or exposed? Thanks in advance!
@pipeliner03466 жыл бұрын
Typically pipelines are api1104. Downhill test with a bell hole or Arkansas bell hole and Branch test, I guess it just depends on the gas company but typically it's 1104 because it's faster. Ive seen where they want lo-hy for repairs which called for a lo-hy test. My experience is the only pipe exposed or above ground is at stations and valve settings.
