One thing you didn't mention is the fact that the O-540 in the 235 has low compression cylinders which, in addition to derating the engine to only 235 hp, also allows me to use ethanol free mogas. I pick that up from a normal gas station about 2 miles from the airport. And it's usually $2.00 less per gallon than avgas at the airport. Which means I am burning more fuel but my fuel costs are about the same as a Cherokee 180. And I can fly faster and carry more. Of course that's only if you can easily use mogas. So might not apply to everyone. But if it does the 235 is a sneaky good airplane.

No. Too light for irf and too slow for, well everything except training. 235 is an extra 4 gal an hour for UL you won't use. 180 or arrows is were Id look if your into cherokees

How much does it cost to own an AN-2? I know you can get airworthy ones for ridiculously low prices, but what does it take to run?
@alexandermarchenko4792 жыл бұрын
Its expensive. It's engine consumes around 200 liters per hour. Leaded fuel preferably (otherwise expect problems with valves, low lead fuels like 100LL are generally not enough too). TBO is around 1200 hours however it might be challenging to obtain serviceable cylinders and other parts. Wings are partially covered with ceconite. They are cheap because they were produced in large quantities and being expensive to operate (high fuel consumption, cruise speed is somewhat lower then 200 kph) there is not much demand for them. Otherwise reliable and capable stol that sits 12 passengers

My criteria/seek - 1) Beginner, don't have a license; easy to learn and safe 2) Live in Denver (altitude) and would like to use it access ski areas i.e. Vail, Aspen, Beaver Creek, etc (traffic into the mountains is BAD). 3) Would like to have it for travel around West i.e. Santa Fe, Vegas, Moab, parts of Montana, etc. Range: 400-600 4) VALUE!
