Hello Ganesh, Ans:You have to get the basics of factors understood first. But usually in aptitude examinations they always frame problems that have LCM of the factors of a single base number. For ex: Lets say, if u had to find out LCM of 20,50,100: Then take the biggest number and see if the smaller nos are factors. since 20 and 50 are factors of 100, hence 100 is your LCM. LCM is basically Lowest common multiple or simply the smallest number which gets completely divided by the given numbers :)

Sove this - The rate of outflow of the water level in a tank is 1.25 litres/hour through pipe A and 1.5 litres/ hour through pipe B. If they are opened together they can empty the tank in 24 hours. If they are connected to two similar tanks simultaneously, how much water will be left in the other tank by the time pipe B empties the tank?

Q.1)two pipes can fill a cistern in 15 hrs and 12 hrs respectievely and the third pipe can empty the full tank in 4 hrs .if these pipes are openned respectievely at 8 am,9am and 11am.then at what time the tank shall be empty? Q.2) a cistern has a leak which would empty in 8 hrs.a tap is turned on which admits a 6 ltr per min into the cistern and it is now emptied in 12 hrs.how many ltr does the cistern hold?

You can alter problem one such that you keep tank one open for one hour, tank two open for one hour and then tank 3 open for one hour. This variation will make problem one more interesting. Then how much time does the tank take to fill?

I think in case of the 2nd problem since the pipes fills 10 hours faster the time should be considered as x & x-10. Please reply soon.

my doubt is similar to you,in the question it is not mentioned that first pipe fills 10 hrs faster than the other,only mentioned one pipe,so we can take first or second,I take x for second pipe.so in the equation again comes x+10 ?

Please provide me the answer with explination . Three pipes A,B and C working together will fill a tank in 2 hr’s. on their own pipe A and B take 8 and 6 hr’s to fill the tank. If only pipe A and C are open , when does pipe C need to be turned off in order for the tank to be filled after 4 hr’s? A. 3 hr and 30min B. 3hr C. 2hr and 48min D. 2hr and 24min E. 2hr

Hello Danial sir! I am a student of grade X. Actually, I think that in the second problem the time taken for the second pipe should be (x-10) as the 2nd pipe is 10 times faster. But, if we take (x+10) then it will be 10 hrs slower. Please do clear my doubt.
