In the old TOS game, I was Sheriff in the All Any and there were only 2 evils. Half the town ended up killing each other (crusaders especially) and somehow I found the two evils the first two nights. Despite that I was still seen as sus until the game suddenly ended when the 2 evils were finally lynched.

Spy has gotten worse as other roles have gotten buffs. The new Percept power of Investigator is basically a 1 night spy bug, isn't ruined by having a pest existing in the same match as you, and exists as an alternate power option so that the Invest can be useful late game too.

I personally hate Spy. As a Spy, I'm likely to just sit there, and watch as nothing happens to my targets for several nights straight, and then I see they get killed by coven which is known info anyway. If something happens, it's usually either plagued/doused (meaning revert back to pre-buff Spy as now all your bugs get triggered by gas or plague), or known info (target killed by coven). In very rare circumstances, you might see something useful, like seeing your target get attacked with immunity or seeing your target get targeted by an executioner, but that's few and far between. This role's sole purpose is to find out if there's a PB/arso or not. It's just an incredibly boring role. You're essentially playing the "townie" role in 90% of your spy games. No one cares about the spy. Evils will almost never intentionally go for a spy claim, likely aiming to mislynch them instead, as it's easy to mislynch a spy whose found nothing, which is what a lot of spy games are. Spy takes up a precious TI slot in set role lists. Spy definitely deserves a rework. Not a full removal, but the role absolutely sucks in its current state. I'd legitimately rather be a coroner than be a spy.

Question for Coroner interaction. If you find say, a Medusa as the killer, but the medusa passes the book the next night, can you still find them as the killer? It would be interesting. It could be that passing the book also has a different action with the invest.

From what I get, yes, you can still find them. If a medusa dies, and another coven gets retrained as medusa (can that happen?) You will be able to find a retrqined guy as well.

Once autopsied, the role is added to the list of roles you can find people as when checking people; therefore, even if the player is no longer a killing role, their role is still in the list of "things coroner can find"
