(found treble clef in the sheet music; here is my statement) It is, I dare say, utterly preposterous that the treble clef should be employed in the notation of music for the double bass. To begin with, the double bass, a noble instrument of great profundity, is naturally tuned in such a manner that it resides in the lower registers of the musical spectrum. The very nature of the instrument demands a clef that is suited to its expansive and resonant range. The bass clef, as is customary, serves as the appropriate guide for the double bassist, allowing them to read the vast sea of pitches that fall beneath the range of more conventional stringed instruments. To impose the treble clef upon such a instrument is nothing short of an affront to logic. It necessitates a series of unnecessary transpositions, creating confusion where clarity should reign. It is an imposition of an entirely ill-suited notation upon an instrument whose very essence is grounded in lower frequencies. The treble clef, traditionally used for higher-pitched instruments such as the violin or flute, is thus wholly incongruous with the bass, and leads one to wonder why such a complex and, frankly, ridiculous system should be thrust upon the hands of professional bassist.
