The mids and highs sounded really similar on both, but the low end was MUCH better with the strings. The lowest two strings sounded really muted, with not much mids or highs, and a lot of loss of the initial pick attack.

i would doubletrack the bass, one without the the pitch shifter then low that shit down a octave then track the other track . a bit of mixing and blending bot tone together might be the best thing in my opinion

Hey Kevin!! I have been always fascinated with the idea of analog/mechanical methods to give different effects to one's instrument, but never had the time neither skill or space in my little flat to try it. What would you think of installing some springs or a loosely hold metal plate to an acoustic guitar to give it more resonance and natural reverb? Do you think it would work?

I think it would sound best if you blend in some of the pitch shifted signal, maybe with a low pass into the sound of the subcontrabass. The pitch shifted sounds fuller in the low end but it sounds worse in the rest of the spektrum.

Which shifter(s) did you use on which demos? I am presuming the Boss and Behringer?

No, it's a pre processing effect in fl studio, it sounded slightly better rendering it that way

It's strange, I like low tuning more, but I somehow feel like the downpitched sound would fit better in the mix, it has more of a "rhythm" feel as opposed to "feel", I you will

I think the super low bass notes dont sound too great since it mostly picks up rattling. But maybe with the higher octave itll give the sound more girth. I also in general am not a fan of your bass tone however I also understand that's not the point of this video

For me sounded like the pitch shifter killed a bit the strings. I prefer the real subcontrabasses
