MLB does what MLB wants regardless of what anyone thinks. The fans wanted repercussions for the Astros cheating... none. The fans didn't want a runner on 2nd in extras... too bad. The fans didn't want the All-Star game moved (I do applaud MLB for this one though)

@Mudcat3434
@Mudcat3434 3 жыл бұрын
@@1Outis1 only if it interferes with what would have been a strike. The big issue here is for guys like him you have to pitch them inside to be effective. That is the only way to keep a hitter who dives toward the plate from getting extension on you. It’s bullshit to take away that from a pitcher. And fact of the matter is if you are going to throw inside, you are going to hit batters. Period. There has to be that threat otherwise you might as well have the pitcher throw it right down the middle because that is what an outside pitch on the corner is if a hitter does not have to be held accountable for the inside part of the plate. This is also why it is bullshit to warn both teams. Because you have just fucked over the other pitcher who did nothing wrong and now can’t throw inside. It is dumb as hell. If you want to fix this then allow pitchers to throw inside again. By doing so there will be a spike in hit batters for a bit, but then hitters will move off the plate to account for the inside pitch and the game is balanced again because it opens up the outside part of the plate. Accountability. It’s what it is all about. As of right now hitters wear body armor and crowd the plate knowing they do not have to worry too much about the inside portion and look middle away full extension. And the pitchers are just sitting there handcuffed. And the excuse of player safety is hilarious. I can count on one hand the amount of players that have been seriously injured from a HBP. Like scary career ending stuff. And when it injuries do occur, which is super rare, it is hands/wrists the vast majority of the time. Get the fuck outta here about player safety MLB. 😂 They act like these players are out there coming back with CTE from hit by pitches. Oh and get rid of the DH and make the pitchers hit like the NL. Again accountability. Then they get to decide whether they want to intentionally throw at someone knowing they have to get in the box themselves. It will police itself.

If you ever watch Close Call Sports, another KZbin channel, they talk about it in much more detail but MLB has changed the rules on things like this. The plate umpire can’t just toss the pitcher now, the crew must get together to discuss before ejecting. Makes for some really bad optics in situations though.

How many other teams have hit the same player 3 times on the first pitch? The first pitch? That doesn’t even account for the other times. Although I see the Marlins point, but they haven’t earned the benefit of the doubt after going after Acuña so many times. Mattingly is literally admitting that they’ve hit him multiple times on purpose.

That's the same umpire during the Bautista and Odor fight. He is terrible at situation handling! This umpire is inconsistent, absolute joke!

As a Braves fan, this one is a little tough. While yes I do think it matters that it was Acuna because for whatever reason the Marlins just love plunking him on the first pitch of the game. However, this one doesn't look intentional and Mattingly is right the beef with these two teams was essentially over and one bad pitch sparked it right back up and the Umps making it something it wasn't isn't going to help, especially since it does appear that they only tossed Lopez due to Snit asking them to and it was clear Lopez didn't mean to. However, Mattingly should know that pitchers can be ejected without warnings if the Ump suspects that the batter was hit intentionally, it's just rare that it happens.
