No one beats Lance Lynn. “obviously I hurt his feelings” lol
@xz9z29
@xz9z29 3 жыл бұрын
i mean he kinda beat himself here. he is a almost 40 year old MAN acting like a baby over a rule that EVERY single pitcher has to follow. DeGrom, Cole and Ohtani showed how to handle this new rule like a boss by just smiling and letting them do their stupid checks. Lynn is just being a baby here. im usually a fan of the "fun" he has and i like when a pitcher is competitive and not just boring, but its a rule, follow it and dont act like a baby when you know its a rule and have done it before.

@DoctorShaunB
@DoctorShaunB 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheEpicTsube the moment the ump escalated any of that to an ejection, he became the bitch. It's valuable seconds/minutes for the pitcher to recuperate rehab take a dump or whatever he wants between innings. You're talking like inspecting for the sticky stuff is a good or normal thing. The ump should be there on time. Frankly they shouldn't be doing these inspections in front of the crowd, it could easily be done in a hallway/room leading into the locker room by another member of ump staff while under video surveillance and observed by nonpartisan staff and representatives of each team. It really makes the whole sport suffer doing it this way.
@TheEpicTsube
@TheEpicTsube 3 жыл бұрын
@@DoctorShaunB It's to provide clarity for everyone that there was nothing the pitcher could do to hide it. Transparency. If they did it off field you'll end up with people claiming pitchers are swapping gloves behind the scenes. Reminiscent of the Altuve hiding a buzzer accusations. And nah man, Lance said in the interview that the ump was late so he did it on purpose. I believe it was literally the next thing he said in the interview after the piece Jomboy posted. He essentially said that there wouldn't be any problems like this if the ump wouldn't be late next time. He was being a bitch and got treated like one. If you can see that as being right on Lance's side, you're a Karen. You should call up Lance and speak with the ump's manager for his incredibly poor customer service. Taking the 10 seconds to have some decency is worth it for Lance, the ump, and everyone else getting these hair trigger ejections because players have been acting like entitled pricks regarding MLB rules intended at upholding the integrity of the game. Less cheating by pitchers = more exciting games as more balls are in play. Lance was acting like a 12 year old about having to do something he didn't want to and he wasn't showing the ump any common decency. Ump's not a bitch for treating the dude the same way as Lance treated him. Didn't got time to deal with the ump? Ump didn't got time to deal with him. Everyone's time is precious, homie. Lance more or less confirmed he was trying to stick it to the ump. Probably should have just not been a dick.

Listen, when you hand over your belt, you are required to step up to the ump, left foot first, do the MLB salute, then kneel on your right knee with toes pointed backwards as you present the belt as if it was a newly polished Excalibur while uttering: "The belt, my Liege." I think he clearly deserved to get tossed.

This was about as bush as it gets. And this isn't meant as a defense of the umpire, that call was really soft. But the league has gone out and put these umpires in an impossible situation. Implementing this thing mid-season is a disaster. Having guys checked constantly like this is a disaster. Tossing and suspending a guy on the SUSPICION that he's using a substance, when you cannot confirm what the substance is, or that it's actually even a substance, is a disaster. MLB runs their game as if their single-minded goal is to destroy their game. They let this bullshit go on for a decade, and when they finally take action on it, it's the most ham-handed, half-thought response you could possibly imagine. If "grip" is truly the issue, here are two extremely plausible solutions: (1) Better hides on the baseballs... OR just better seams on the baseball. Grip is, after all, supposed to come from the seams. Raise those suckers up like they're supposed to be raised up. OR (2) Come up with a substance that's allowed. Whether it's pine tar, or bullfrog and rosin or whatever. Put a can of it on the mount next to the rosin bag and let guys go to town. If we see something on your hat, or you're going to the glove or the belt between pitches, you get warned and then you get tossed. No check, no scientific analysis of the belt/glove/hat, you're just out. Why? Because at that point, we don't care what you've got. You've got something other than the legal, allowed stuff, which is why you're going to the hat/glove/belt. Goodbye. But yeah, strip-searching MLB pitchers on the foul line in between games is an embarrassment to the sport. It's pathetic. And it needs to stop.
@JMacSD
@JMacSD 3 жыл бұрын
The checking every pitcher every time leaving the mound thing is lame, sure. But since it exists, it make sense that a pitcher shouldn't be allowed to just walk down into the dugout and toss some belt out to be inspected. It'd give cheaters a way to get away with it. So maybe he broke inspection rules, also grounds for ejection? Of course, this is just another ump getting emotional and overcompensating, he could have looked into the belt switch theory if that was a thing, just saying it kinda seems like it could be a thing.
