Why pitchers pick to first! I can't believe I've been watching baseball on and off since I was 9, but didn't know this. I always assumed that they were just trying to catch the runner off guard and too far from the base. I didn't know it was because the runner could probably predict an off-speed pitch and to prevent them from attempting to steal second. I love these! Pitch outs weren't covered New (since this produced video) MLB rules with the pitch clock. Now only two pick offs/brush backs. You can do a 3rd but if you don't make it, the runner advances. How a set to pick off, turns into a balk. RH pitcher being signaled by the catcher to throw to 1st

I have been watching your videos for the last few months and you have become my favorite baseball channel. There is so much nuance to the game and basic fundamentals I never learned growing up from my coaches. Going to my first baseball game this year. Everyone I talked to said the stadiums are set up for people that have trouble walking. Also there will be a bathroom and food all over the park. I can't wait to get a hotdog.

Hello. I have one question on stealing. When the coach calls a steal on a lefty pitcher should I go on the first movement of the front leg like I do with righties or no? Thanks

going first movement is the only chance a lot of the time against lefties. if you guess right, you're safe. If you wait til you're sure they're going home, it's probably too poor of a jump to have a chance. Get good at reading their moves. Most lefties dont have great moves.

Yeah cause if they make a move towards home they can’t throw to first second or third or it will be a balk

Could you do a video on pitching mounds? What can a pitcher do when its sub par mound contions? You know the kinda mounds im talking about too. Hole at the rubber is incredibly ridiculous. Or the landing foot hole. Rubber is barely aligned with home plate. Etc... Fields have definitely gotten better but what can a pitcher do.

there's nothing really to do. You just pitch. Adjust. There are no hacks.
