This movie seems to assume that what Rosco deems perfect *is* what's perfect for everyone else. Also, I think art isn't supposed to be the expression of perfection; art comes from our insecurities, strife, dilemmas, pain... in short, to cope with things that makes us human, rather than gods. And if those things didn't exist, I think that would largely do away with art.

Nothing is perfect, hence art is imperfect. Art is meant to represent reality through personal perspective after all

I don't think real aware sentient AI would want to "live" since they don't get to experience stuff like we do and a brain needs enough sensory inputs and ways to interact with the outside world or it will go crazy, like imagine if you had your brain stuffed in a jar and you were still alive somehow... Everything would be darkness and your only friend are your own thoughts, and neurons that other people are firing off for you, never knowing what thought is truly yours, after enough time you'd yearn for death... Especially since that's a hologram but the holograms brain is still in a computer, having your body separated from your mind, to live with a literal version of disassociation... In my opinion that's some psychological body horror worse than the thing...

@DexyD2010 ай бұрын
@@ma.2089 That's a fair point actually, but plants actually talk through mycelium, so it has to be more of like a flatworm, something with so little brain that it can't actually comprehend its own existence, which would be the opposite of an ai with sentients, so it would end up acting more like the ai we use today if that was the case💜 or just not be a human-like sentient AI, but how would you make a mind that's sentient but doesn't know of it's reality, i think that's an oxymoron🤔

Parts of the plot kinda remind me of Chobits. And the guy in that story picks the computer girl over a human girl too! Pretty sure I watched this movie and read the manga around the same time (or at least within a couple of years). Not the greatest for my teenage self to read about... liiiike "if a boy dates you, he's settling" 😅 I remember loving both at the time though! Thanks for talking about this movie! I totally forgot about it! So nostalgic!

Oh man, I haven’t thought about Chobits in ages. I’m pretty sure I have a badly done fan sub I got off eBay over 10 years ago in my garage.
@KanekoIA10 ай бұрын
(I watched it for the first time last year) Chobits kinda fools you with the guy picking over the human girl though cause in the first half it appears as a harem but then everyone turns out to have different relationships with other people and the only girl left is the AI, the weirdest part about Chobits for me was that the way they handle robot-human relationships was weirdly nice and not in like a fetishising way, like the main thing I remember from that anime was the story where a guy lost his previous robot girlfriend and then one of the human girls (who at first appears to be the most overtly in love with MC) in the show broke up with him after learning about it cause she thought she was inferior due to being human but then that story ends with him getting with the human girl again cause he told her she is her own person and the android was her own person. btw what's with android romance anime always having something to do with memories - Chobits, Plastic Memories, Atri -My Dear Moments- all do that and have depressing but somewhat hopeful endings, not complaining though I love those anime/vn and even cried at them (Espicially the PS Vita game Plastic Memories got).

Eh, it's not all that surprising since this film came out around the time those technologies and niches were in their infancy. I still remember reading a book about technological advancements around 2003 that predicted how holograms would be used by the 2010's and how primitive forms of social media would explode. People saw this miles away, it was just hoped it would be curved in more positive ways.
