This is the most helpful photography video I had ever witnessed! Points I like: 1. Shooting RAW 2. Don't believe in monitor rely on histogram 3. Back button focusing 4. Leaving picture control, bracketing, active Dlighting to enhance camera performance 5. Important to Check WHITE BALANCE AND ISO setting etc. THANKS A LOT SIR, CANT WAIT THE VIDEOS ON HISTOGRAM....VERY MUCH NEEDED!

I'm an intermediate level photographer who is trying to increase my proficiency, finding your channel has helped me understand some of the complex/abstract concepts, by using common sense explanations. While there are several other photography channels I enjoy for different reasons, yours has helped me quite a great deal. Finally, it's good to see older Indian men dress and talk in a more contemparary fashion, which, unfortunately, is not very common in America- a positive role model that I can aspire to. Thank you, Subscribed!

Thank you for another wonderful and informative video. I recently bought a used Canon 5D Mark III and returned it to it's factory settings as it was previously owned by a professional portrait photographer. This video prompted me to check what color space I've been shooting in. I found that I've been using sRGB. Now that I've reset it to Adobe RGB, I am anxious to try some more shooting to see if my RAW image quality improves. I can not begin to thank you enough. And as an aside...... I had a little trouble with your accent at first. Now I love it. It really lends to how concise you are about explaining things. Two thumbs up from this aspiring photographer.

On the colour space part, for RAW shooters it does'nt matter if you choose srgb or adobe rgb, raw captures all the data, 14 bit in case of your camera The colour space is just added later by the processing software, p3 is an even wider gamut than adobe rgb but you can even use that colour space for a raw file, point is that colour space is independent to the raw file and is only added later as per the requirement. Having said that most of the consumer monitors and phones/tablets target and support srgb (with exceptions ofcourse) so if the target audience is this, then srgb should be used to save the file from lightroom/photoshop. Having said that kudos for all the efforts and wonderfully presented as always. 👍🏻

Well said about Ansel Adams. He was a legend in the world of photography just like Bruce Lee and Rajnikant in their respective fields. So all over the world, people use Ansel Adams' name to mock the newbees who try to act like a pro. He was also right in his words, as without emotion, you can't write a poem, compose a song, make a great photograph that tells a story about the subject. So we need technical knowledge to get the best control over the camera and the rest is all about art and emotion. On the lighter note, I remember Ken Rockwell's words for the beginners in photography. *FART first before taking a photograph. *Think about SEX all the time. It's all simple concept. F=feel, A=ask, R=refine, T=take S=selection, Ex=exclusion. The second one is very important point in composition. So every photographer is unique in their own way of expression.

Thanks so much for this tutorial. I have a Nikon D7000 cropped-frame camera and used this tutorial to check on my settings which I had set a long time back based on someone else's recommendation. I found out, to my consternation, that I had my color space setting on sRGB instead of adobe RGB, probably because most monitors use sRGB color space. I agree with you that it makes more sense to use the superior adobe RGB color space for 2 reasons (a) to get the most out of your shot when its being printed and (b) to future proof your image for the day when superior monitors will be available that can make use of the expanded color range of adobe RGB. As for the variability and inefficient translations of different monitors from adobe RGB to sRGB, I believe that these differences are probably minor compared to so many other variability factors such as the room lighting conditions and the monitor brightness settings that play a far greater role in how the image looks on screen.

Hey Balakrishna. I have a D5200 and used it to its limits for landscapes n travel photography. I have few DX lenses for it ranging from $200 to $600. I don't make money taking pictures so I am short on budget. Can't afford to go full frame and buy glass for it as well. So as much as I would love to, D850 is out of my league. Whats your opinion on D500? Is it worth spending that money for DX when FX is considered way better for landscapes? Would like your feedback on D500 for landscapes and value for money.

Hello Sir, all your video tutorials are amazing and helpful. I have this question since long time. You have mentioned about Adobe RGB in your multiple videos. Having said that, when we export image from lightroom it will be exported sRGB, isn't it? I know we can export to Adobe RGB jpeg but many viewing devices won't understand that color space. In that case sRGB has an edge sine all devices can render my images. At the end of the day if I am going to use sRGB so that all devices can render my image then why should I shoot in Adobe RGB?
@PIXELVIILAGE6 жыл бұрын
What happens if you upgrade to the state-of-the-art monitor or the best printer in the world? Would you prefer to go back and re-shoot all your favourite images, or thank heavens for shooting with maximum colour information? Think.
@tw95356 жыл бұрын
PIXEL VIILAGE Hello! Awesome video as always. It has been my understanding that the RAW files (.NEF for Nikon) record information that can be used as either Adobe or sRGB. So you are never "shooting" in one or the other, but rather you are always collecting the RAW information for both-- simultaneously. Adobe vs sRGB would be a software choice at the time of editing the RAW file and then another choice when exporting it. So, either way, as long as you are shooting RAW files there would not be anything to re-shoot. Even if you are alternating between the two during editing and exporting. Is this not correct?
@PIXELVIILAGE6 жыл бұрын
Wilson Newman Yes Sir... Absolutely. The RAW shooter is safe. It's the Jpeg shooter who needs to be careful. I am of the opinion that you should shoot and finish the image in the highest quality as possible. ie. Adobe RGB, uncompressed TIFF at 8 bits. And then convert the profiles to suit your destination. 🙏 😊
@tw95356 жыл бұрын
PIXEL VIILAGE Oh, yes... absolutely!!! Personally, I am not sure why everyone doesn't just shoot any important photo in RAW. That is the most "future proof" format as it holds the most information. Just imagine what software editors of the future (5 years, 10 years, etc.) may be able to do with that additional infurmation. I don't understand shooting in JPG only... unless the picture just isn't that important or a JPG copy has to be shared immediately (live sports, photojournalism, etc.)

I couldn't help smiling when you mentioned the fact that you have seen some professionals shooting a burst of photos even for a group portrait shot. I have been told that the reason for doing so is that it is pretty likely that someone or the other is looking the wrong way or has his eyes closed in any single shot. By using multiple shots aprofessionals actually do nd post processing in photoshop one can, supposedly, fix this. It does, however, seem too much of an effort and I wonder how many photographers actually do such fixes in post-processing.
