Tim, In the AMD control panel, in the display section, when you set "Custom Color" ON with "Color Temperature Control" OFF, that lets the GPU read data about the monitor's colour space over the HDMI/DP connection, and adjust the color output accordingly. This allows wide-gamut displays that don't have sRGB clamping to correctly display sRGB content without the need for ICC profiles (or in apps where they aren't supported, ie; most games). It's an awesome feature that saved me from buying a colorimeter to fix the oversaturated reds of my wide-gamut monitor. Could you look into this and let us know how accurate that feature is? Edit: You can also do this on Nvidia GPUs, but since Nvidia hasn't added that feature in their drivers yet, you have to use a tool called ''novideo_srgb''.

In my experience, with custom color on, and color temperature off it actually leads to an oversaturated look. That might just be my specific monitor, but for me it is way better leaving custom color off for srgb content.

Why did you guys take a point off for the HDMI advertising when the HDMI 2.0 implementation that Pixio uses is probably the best you can get out of HDMI 2.0 at all? It supports 1440p 120Hz with VRR enabled even on consoles out of the box, something many monitors needed a firmware upgrade to be able to do at all. They advertise HDMI 2.0 and deliver on it, so just confused about why they got a mark off for that.
@josephc.24432 жыл бұрын
Because HDMI 2.0 does not support 1440p at 165hz which is what the monitor is also advertised as. People who do not know much about bandwidth and monitors may be very disappointed when they find that they are not getting 165hz.
@IndyMiraaga2 жыл бұрын

Joseph is correct. In the chart at 13:26, the "Fail Conditions" state "Insufficient Bandwidth or Misleading Advertising" and HDMI 2.0 is insufficient for 1440p 165Hz. That is why it loses a mark.

I'd probably buy this if it was available here (UK). Despite it being a bit overpriced, the combination of USB PD and a KVM would be a great benefit for my usage (frequently swapping laptops and swapping between laptops and desktop). The only other monitor of this size that I've seen with that is the AOC AG274QXM, which is nearly £900 and seems to have a number of serious issues with the display. Hopefully USB PD output (60W+) starts to become a common feature (as KVM switching already has) because ideally I'd be making a decision solely on the display/price and not a niche feature.

Something to look at is what rescaling will do if you buy a new monitor NOW but haven't got a fast enough graphics card to do native resolution gaming at the moment (for example there is no way to currently afford a new graphics card, but a replaced monitor could be done now). So you go from a 1080p (say), which you currently have, and get a new monitor THAT YOUR GPU ISN'T FAST ENOUGH FOR, what benefits do you get from a new monitor at 1440p then at 4k if you upscale. So you take a 1080p image and upscale to 4k is easier to carry out, but you are able to run a 1440p monitor and upscale from 1152 or whatever to 1440p, getting a better image than at 1080p upscaled to 4K, because you CAN run at 1152 (or whatever) and still drive pixels fast enough even if you add on upscaling afterward to 1440p but cannot upscale to 4k at that resolution. It may be that the 1152 image can be uscaled to 4k just fine, mind. However, if the upscaled 1440p image is closer to the native 1440p image than the image upscaled to 4k is to the 4k native, or there is no difference in quality upscaling from the 1152 image to 1440p or 2048p, making a 4k monitor meaningless, then you can point out if you can get "locked 90hz" with the 1152 image then you should get the 1440p monitor, but if you can run 1440p, then as long as you can lock it to 80hz you can afford to run the 4k monitor as your upgrade from 1440p TODAY if your rescaling is supported.
