It's good to see that someone as proficient as you can still struggle a little bit. It really shows us to just keep at it, and not get discouraged. I love how you explain what does, and doesn't work, in what circumstances. Whereas many would just cover it up, and pretend it was picture perfect from the onset*. I admire that about you. Keep on being real. We love you. *Unless it had already been seen by others on Twitch Lol😋 [Edited] Akshay Raj, DoomThink, Jonny Chrst, Simon Valen (alphabetically; just the ones I spotted, and maybe some others in the comments) suggested utilizing Golems to move the Zombies around, or as kill mechanisms, OR even introducing an Iron Golem Farm to the set-up, so that the Golems, and Zombies would destroy each other, increasing the Skulk output (not to mention better drops). Almost like a double-spawner/Gladiator type thing. (Could make AFK-ing less boring) 🚩Now I really want to see this happen! Anybody?

The only thing about am iron farm vs zombie spawner is i don't think the zombies would keep up and eventually it would just be a pit of golems (maybe pre damage the golems or keep them in range of the villagers so the village limits the total number of golems in the pit)

@@CieJe.Alexander i suspect pre damaging them is probably the best method, make it sorta like Tango's various iron farms that kill the golems with interesting mobs, except this time its just basic zombies or skelly. I would be interested in a multiple cave spider vs iron golem farm. Just realized, Tango's Hermitcraft S7 farm had pistons pop up the zombies to scare the villagers in a wave, you could do this and adjust the timer to match the kill rate of the zombie spawner. (Or detect when the golems are all dead with tripwires above the zombies heads)

You've probably already thought of this or someone has already mentioned it, but for the baby zombies and for the leather wearing zombies, you could make separate tunnels into the walls with turtle eggs to lure them out of the farm and maybe onto something that would automatically kill them. It won't help make those zombies be a part of the sculk farm, but it'll at least help with the mob count. Awesome farm design tho btw, it looks really simple and relatively able to be made early game if one is brave enough to take on the deep dark in the early game XD Edit: and by "separate tunnels" I mean a 1 bock high tunnel under the snow for baby zombies specifically, and a 2 tall one at ground level with the snow so it won't lure out the zombies that can be used in the farm

So this suggestion involves redesigning the farm entirely so you might want to consider this for another farm in the future, but if the spawner is not deep enough to kill the zombies with fall damage you might want to use the mechanic where sculk charge travels up alternating sculk blocks using stairs or trap doors (I believe Ilmango and gnembon explained this mechanic and it's not as complicated as I'm making it sound). It'll make the charge from the sculk travel to another room entirely to be converted into sculk blocks so you can use the extra space you used for the farm to maximize fall damage. Alternatively you can drop them all in lava that's low enough to not affect the spawner for the catalyst to pick up and it can send the sculk charge to another room separated from the killing chamber where you can harvest all the sculk blocks. A bonus to that latter suggestion is that it destroys the drops in case you don't need them, like in a zombie spawner.

Hey Pix great video by the way. For the sculc conversion I would suggest instead of the hopper timer putting the catalyst under the platform and an observer facing it (as it can detect a catalyst upon activation) with a dropper counter next to it that would fire every two to three catalyst activations. Also you could replace the lower set of stairs with scull sensors as they are immovable and they can (at least as i can remember from 1.19 snapshots) block some sculc sensor/shrieker generation that could interfere with the zombies
@Xacris
@Xacris 2 жыл бұрын
oh, you know if you wanted to, you could use a Sculk Sensor to detect when the Spawner produces mobs and use that to control how often the stone generator works. Also, from my experiments, it seems like for a block to be converted to sculk, it needs at least one face open to air. It's almost like it checks for if a sculk vein could generate, and if not then it won't convert
@superajokera
@superajokera 2 жыл бұрын
So with Sculk, it generally follows a different rule of thumb for blocks that it can replace. This generally includes blocks you'd see on the surface of the Overworld, the Nether, and the End. Notably, this does include Clay, Gravel, and Soul Sand. (Mentioning Soul Sand so that in case your working with Bubble Columns with Sculk then just be careful.)

For the baby zombies and armored zombies, I believe you should remove the powdered snow layer and place down flowing lava right above the stone/sculk floor. I don't know if it would stop the blocks from converting, but I doubt. IF that stops the blocks from converting, setup a lava "floor" placed above open fencegates a few blocks down from the spawner (maybe 5?) and one just above the stone/sculk floor as well... Yes, it requires much more material (a.k.a almost 200 fence gates and probably 10 lava buckets) but it would work and could possibly be made higher in the world as well so you could have a minecart under it collecting drops as well.

Turtle eggs around the sides with magma blocks on the edges not connected to the piston strip (obviously). Put a skulk catalyst in the center and one in each of the Cardinal directions at the walls above the layer of stone. Even if the zombies fall on then, they'll be attracted to the turtle eggs and fall off. This will kill the baby zombies as well, and magma blocks can't be turned into skulk (though they can be covered, so youll need something like string on top of them).

You were so caught up on the fact that placing the pointed dripstone directly on the moving stone platorm wouldn't work that you never considered placing it a few blocks higher than that. Another possible solution would have been to replace the powdered snow with campfires.

Does the mob have to be standing directly on the stone for it to be converted to skulk, or can there be anything between the mob and the stone? I was wondering, if they were standing on a layer of campfires above the stone (where the snow is now), if the stone beneath that would still be able to convert. The wiki says the mob just has to die within 8 blocks of the catalyst.

How about having a platform with magma block with a one wide gap. Water streams will direct them before they die on the magma blocks and when the fall through the gap,they might potentially die as long as they don't have Armor. This also takes care of the baby zombies. One more solution is to have a simple iron golem farm which will supply iron golems down there which will kill armored or baby zombies. Villagers can detect iron golem presence so you don't have the problem of having too many golems.

Can you please show a cobble generator that doesn’t use TNt duping. Because every design I have built on a server with TNT duping breaks.

Hey pix ... have a suggestion might help... you can replace the powdered snow for layers of lava held together by signs....

What if you put a lava trap with signs just enough low down that it won't prevent spawn but high enough that the fall damage will finish off the zombies ? Idk if it would be more effective than the water streams in your particular scenario but I thi k it's easier to set up

I will definitely attempt this when my server updates finally to 1.19. thanks for the Tutorial. They are helpful as always. On my server I got lucky and found two cave spider spawners in spawning range of each other and a skeleton spawner. Though would this farm be more efficient with a custom mob farm than spawners?

I think if you want to do this the best way is to design a normal mob grinder just reliant on natural spawns that way you can build it up in the sky over an ocean and can easily control the mobs and the wall of skulk plus it tends to be alot faster and the drops would be more useful

Could lure the baby zombies and leather equipped zombies into a bubble collum with a villager behind it. That way it makes a little classic zombie farm , not too efficient but no loss

Pix, what about a layer of lava about 3-4 Y levels higher then the powered snow? How close to powered snow can lava be? What if you had a layer of signs or fence gates above the powered snow then lava on it. It would be high at head height for zombies who spawned with leather boots.

could you use pointed dripstone to kill the falling zombies?

I'm assuming that you generated the chunk containing the zombie spawner prior to your 1.19 upgrade, right? Otherwise you should not have encountered bedrock until Y=-64 or so. Am I forgetting something about the 1.18 to 1.19 terrain generation with respect to the new world depth/height?

Maybe this would be a good place for showing bedrock breaking methods. The spawner is at y=-36, so a stone layer at -61 would be low enough for killing zombies.

how about doing a regular kind of set up where you shoot the zombies upwards and then drop them onto the stone platform giving them enough fall damage to die thus making the farm more efficient and avoiding any possible losses
