That photograph of a child in a poor country is absolutely NOT the "classic patient presentation" in countries with readily accessible high-quality health care. Typical presentation in the US, for example, is a small child who has a severe sunburn even after a limited amount of time in the sun. Or freckles in a baby under the age of 2. Please consider the importance of using images that accurately represent the patient population. Thank you!

@@WhompingWalrus She is Guatemalan. The source of the photo is cited in the video. One main point in the article was actually the fact that lack of access to medical assistance leads to worse outcomes such as these. It is highly unlikely that the presentation of XP in the United States would look like what is pictured here.

What if we invent a special type of tattoo ink that filters UV and all we need to do is tattoo majority of the exposed skin of an XP patient? 🤔

Disease. Dis-ease. A lack of ease. 1. "An abnormal condition of a human, animal or plant that causes discomfort or dysfunction; distinct from injury insofar as the latter is usually instantaneously acquired." 2. "Any abnormal or harmful condition, as of society, people's attitudes, way of living etc."
