I have to check my tractor air filter every so often in the garage, the mice love to nest in the air filter. Thank you Craig I had one living in the car glove box a few years ago. I had surgery on my knee, not replacement, haven't been able to bend it for a few years now and it has been very painful. The surgery was a great success and I'm doing some physio not to get it working again.

Dale those tea strainers are sold everywhere here in Alberta and also at David's Tea stores. You should check out the David's Tea site online Dale it's got mugs with the strainer included and they have a zillion teas that are good. I think the strainers are about 5 dollars. The rosehips are quite small. We have them as big as grapes here but what brings out the flavor of them is drying them and crushing them to release the flavor. I've made rosehip tea many times and it's so pleasant but not if you use fresh ones. Drying them evaporates the water and just leaves the flavor. Camomille is the same. You have to dry it out to get the real flavor out. good thing you have a dehydrator for food.
@DaleCalderCampobello7 жыл бұрын
That is good to know I have never looked for one over here I use the thing almost everyday. These rose hips are exceptionally small the bush is a cloud of small blossoms in June. We have a wild rugosa type rose here that has hips larger than cherry tomatoes.
@weaver72497 жыл бұрын
I was so excited to see you in the cabin - I stopped and watched it right away. Your pizza looked delish! I have noted to attempt to grow rosehips and camamile for tea in 2018. NO POPCORN! So good to see you.

Thank you Dana glad you enjoyed it. The camomile is perennial and I think my plant is large enough now that I can divide it to get more flowers.

I have one of those tea strainers, and another one that is a ball on the end of what looks like a pair of tongs, so maybe it's a European thing? Both work well for loose tea, and the strainer fits in a teapot too. Glad you managed to get a cup from your chamomile, but shame about the popcorn, hopefully a little more drying will work. Great looking pizza!
@DaleCalderCampobello7 жыл бұрын
Thank you Alan I must try this to see if it fits in a tea pot. There is also a good chance that the pop corn cross pollinated with my sweet corn growing in the same area. I will let it dry some more and try again.

I think the kernels come off a little easier if you just use your thumb pushing away from the open space and sort of outward. (as opposed to twisting the whole thing back and forth with your whole hands) If they're dried enough, once you get going, they should come fairly easily, though it may depend some on the variety, I suppose. I always enjoy your cabin videos - especially when I can watch them while drinking apple cider next to the fire with my dog in my own little cabin, like I did this one. :)

With regard to the popcorn. I think it's the moisture content that causes it to pop, not the dryness. That may be evidenced by the fact that the cover steamed up on the more successful second attempt which resulted in more popping. I would keep the cobs or Kendall's refrigerated after picking to preserve the moisture content as much as possible. It's the steam that is generated inside the kernel that does the trick. I like your style and enjoy your little cabin. Thanks"

Thank you Trevor I stuffed the hole with steel wool, an SOS pad, and that seems to have done the trick I have two mouse traps set in there and no action. Yay! Thank you for doing crust! I find having a large glass of red wine before attempting any dough improves the overall outcome. (I would snap your table right off the wall in the cabin when I knead.) I think you should get a cat. You can toss it in a carrier and carry it out to the cabin with you. They don't put up with any nonsense though, so you'll have to behave.

Thank you Rachel. I would love to have a cat hat two years ago but I'm allergic and breath much better if I don't have on in the house.

Aw, that wee mousey put sooooo much effort into making that perfect little nest! But she HAD TO GO. Much as the nest was cute, I don't like mice, found 1 at the back of an old cooker of mine one time......did a bit of a 'screamy thing' but it was deceased. Hope your knee feeling better, each day makes a difference. Today I'm making Bara brith.....Welsh fruit cake and goin to try, for 1sttime, to make ricotta.

Thank you Christine. The knee is getting better by the day I started physiotherapy this week. Good luck with your ricotta. Is your Bara Brith with SR flour or yeast I want to try one soon.
