Hes got no idea what hes talking about boxing wise, and he doesnt seem to realize how smash attacks should work. For example, a down smash almost always should be able to hit both in front and behind you, but this guy just wants a charged low swing. Its a dumb idea.

While Mr.Sandman would undoubtedly be cool, if we were getting a new Punch-Out! Fighter, I’d want it to be Aran Ryan, as not only is he a very a popular character, but because he’s a dirty cheater, he wouldn’t be restricted to his fists, allowing for a very unique moveset. Headbutts, Elbow Strikes, what ever you’d call that thing he uses in Title Defense, you name it. Also, like when Dark Pit beats Pit, when Ayan Ryan beats Little Mac, he’ll say “YOU GOT CHEESEBURGERS IN THOSE GLOVES MAC!?”

I never really considered a viable 2nd rep for Punch-Out before, but Doc Louis aside this really makes Mr. Sandman seem like a great choice! I love how you incorporated Little Mac's "mechanics" but modified them in a way to match the opponent boxers. I also like how you give him a "combo escape tool" as a heavy, akin to Bowser's "no flinch from weak attacks" and K. Rool's belly armour.

Personally Aran Ryan would be a better character, He’s a cheater and doesn’t need to be restricted to his fist like Mac, he uses a whip (long range and could be a grapple to the ledge) he also has head butts and legs, his finally smash could be he puts the horse shoes in his gloves and goes mad on the opponent he also acts very funny and definitely a fully Irish man. I just think he would be more unexpected and more funnier

I had a thought, but it was destroyed by the TERRIFYING JUMP SCARE in this video. What I love most about this character concept is the idea of Sandman as a defensive tank. Smash usually lacks these options, Bowser's Tough Guy armor and K. Rool's Belly Armor probably being the best/only real examples aside from, like, Shield Shulk. Sandman as a hulking brute ready to make reads and try to win 50/50's as a counterpick feels like an even more intimidating Ganondorf, and I love that. Do I think he might work better as a boss character? Ultimately, yeah, I think that's the best place for all the Punch-Out enemy boxers. But screw it, I love this series and want more Punch-Out reps solely out of bias. Good stuff, I want to play this!

This moveset is awesome! One thing I'd add is that, since he's an amalgamation of Ali and Tyson, have him start off dealing the highest damaging attacks of any character but as his hit percentage goes up his attacks get weaker.

I really like this concept. However, a single change I would make is that after performing his down taunt, if an enemy (he injured recently, if that can be checked) is nearby as he finished the taunt, he would then say "you want some more?" like he does when Little Mac gets up from a knockdown in Wii Punch-Out!!. He can still move and act whist saying this, to prevent any foul play that may occur from an otherwise extended taunt.

Dreamland express should really be the final smash, a few super strong punches similar to Ryu's final smash (not the projectile version, though). His recovery should be a few spinning clothesline attacks, similar to DK up special and referencing the "Super Macho Man" attack.

Dude that was very well thought out and awesome! Being a Punch Out fan myself I would like to see Mr. Sandman as a Smash edition as well. My only minor gripe is the exclusion of Sandman's arcade appearance in his default costumes. However, you did a fantastic job referencing everyone else's appearances and this seems 100% plausible to me should Nintendo take your idea into account and capitalize! Also I agree. Smash NEEDS more Punch Out Music. Oh and one other thing... Nintendo should make a skin of DK complete with his trademark Punch Out boxing gloves. Who knows maybe Mr. Sandman's echo could be Bald Bull, Soda Popkinski, or King Hippo. :)

I have made a Mr sandman move concept. Hope you like it. Jab: His jab would be a three punch combo. Right overhead punch < Left overhead punch < Quick jab to midsection. Forward Tilt: He would crouch a bit, and jab his opponent similar to punch out wii. Down Tilt: Mr. Sandman would swipe his hand on the floor. Potential chance of tripping. Up Tilt: He will use his dreamland express move. You can chain three together, but will have a window where he can not use up tilt. N Air: Mr. Sandman will throw a hook. B Air: He will swing his hand behind him, turning mr sandman around. D Air: Mr. Sandman will charge a punch, which will send him down. He will hit the ground with such force that it will cause a small shockwave. U Air: Mr. Sandman will throw his hand up slapping opponents. F Smash: He will throw a massive hook, clobbering enemies. D Smash: Mr. Sandman will punch the ground creating a small shockwave. Similar to D Air except with more power, range, and knockback. U Smash: Mr. Sandman will blink. The longer you charge the smash, Mr. Sandman will blink twice, then thrice. The number of blinks will determine the number of uppercuts he will throw. N Special: Mr. Sandman will charge a punch. You can charge the punch for more power. Will deal massive damage to shields. Side Special: Mr. Sandman will throw a flurry of punches for as long as you hold it, ending with a powerful jab. D Special: Counter U Special: Mr. Sandman will throw his hand down with such force that he is sent up. He will deal damage to anyone in the way. Up Throw: He will throw his opponent up with both hands. Forward Throw: Will swing and chuck his opponent off stage. This would be his kill throw. Back Throw: Same as Forward throw except he spins twice and throws his opponent back. Down throw: He will throw his opponent down, burying them. Note: I haven't seen the video yet so this is purely my imagination. Anything he says that is similar to mine is pure coincidence.

I feel like a cool final smash would have been a cutscene final smash where he lunges forward with a big punch, and anyone hit gets sent flying into an abandoned brick building like the one in Punch Out for the Wii, then he proceeds to destroy the building with his punches while the other fighters are stuck inside. The cutscene ends with the building collapsing and showing Mr. Sandman standing atop the rubble. The opponents get sent flying away but anyone above 100% gets buried.

I gotta say the moveset you did for Sandman is fricking awesome. But their are somethings that I have a small problem with. First: I think all of his aerials should have heavy armor starting at frame 3-20. Second: Push that his down air should instead be a downward stomp similarly to Ganondorf’s own down air, and it be stronger, and have 4 fames of super armor. Third: Have his neutral special break full shields, or just ignore them, and make his up special end with a downward stomp that spikes. Finally: His Final Smash should have been MIDNIGHT EXPRESS.

I'm not too into Punch Out, but I'd be happy if Mr. Sandman got in over Sora and I'm a Kingdom Hearts fan. The game could use more hand to hand fighters or at least someone wielding something other than a freaking sword. Actually, that's why I'm all for the other campaign Knights over Shovel Knight. The Shovel Blade would have some uniqueness to it, but I feel Plague Knights ranged bombs (and some Arcana to help out) or King Knight's shoulder bash and spin (among other things) would be interesting to see in play for Smash. Specter Knight's a little bit less unique with his scythe, another melee (non-hand to hand) weapon like a sword, but he has cross slashes and likely the judgement rush would could easily be his recovery ability. It both helps him recover and can attack a player closest to him.

His Final Smash should start with a punch but after that punch they fall asleep and get beaten to a pulp by him but it's in a boxing arena and he's pixelated, once they fly off at the end they wake and they're flying just like in the dream. Also, if the opponent is at 100% and their last stock instead of being sent flying they colapse onto the floor and you see Sandman calling you too easy and saying that Glass Joe could beat you, cue special victory screen.

I think sandman's final smash would be trapping opponents in a building then smash it to pieces like in the Punch out Wii title defense intro. And it's different if it's little Mac, it's cinematic when he beats little Mac to bedtime
