I use this method all the time. Trouble is they get stolen when I'm out kiting.. Lost three. Now I use a wire cable and a lock usually around a tree... problem solved..

Its a good tool to launch a kite, but please turn your kite to the water instead of the trees! Theres always a risk doing this!
