PLA Navy Type 052C Air Defense Destroyer

Some friendly or hostile countries of China have not yet reached this level of technology and efficiency offered by the type 052C. But it is not far from being obsolete for the PLAN. That leaves me wondering. 🤔 They are also used to modernizing destroyers and frigates which still have a minimum of 10-15 years of service. This should be the case for these 6 units of 052C.

All warships look the same. The Zumwaits look very sifferent, but that class is a disaster. Astonishing cost and noi mission.

They're progressive improvements built from a Russian base design but with modernised stealth characteristics. You can say their 5th gen jets are copies of US 5th gen gets but their naval ships are definitely more Russian than US.

@@Rimasta1 Just as a technical point, it is against every war college doctrine to underestimate a competitor or enemy. With regards to the 52c, it is now a second line ship with the more advanced type 52d and type 55 destroyer taking over frontline duty. These destroyers are equiped with gallium nitride radars which is the most advanced in the world. Only our flight 3 burkes carry those radars, but with smaller panels which means decreased range and area of search compared to the chinese. They also have the YJ18 and YJ21 supersonic and hypersonic ship to ship missiles. While the LRASM are subsonic, below mach 1. While the subsonic nature of the LRASM means fighters carrying it will have to get extremely close. Otherwise even though these are stealthy missiles, the ships would not even be in the vicinity by the time LRASM arrives.
