Using street view in Berlin is so weird because it's now 9 year old photos because the first 20 cities were mapped in 2008. Especially in former east Berlin there has been a lot of new construction in the past 10 years. My neighbourhood in south-east Berlin looks completely different now than it does on street view. I recently had a job interview at a high-tech company for which I tried to look up the adress in street view so I'd know where to enter to building only to find an dirt field with a dilapidated ruin.

I live in germany, at the three border point with NL and BE, and it sucks to see that the cities there on the german side are not accesible by streetview but a few kilometres away, in the netherlands, every useless rural area is mapped. Kind of dumb

It's easy to put one foot on either side of a border and be in two countries at once. I did this on a bridge over the Rhein, which put me in Germany and France at the same time. I also went to the place where Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands come together. I embraced the monument, which put me in three countries at the same time!

they have almost all the data from germany but they arent allow to publish it.. i saw the google car many times in my city but my city never went on google street view. the problem with germany & austria is not privacy, its the fact that we have on average very old people here. i think average age is around 42 or something. and most people in germany dont know the internet, they are scared because they dont understand it..

Former Soviet countries have something called 2GIS, which doesn't have street view but is really nice for navigation around cities compared with Google (imo), but it only works in cities.

Another place that you can't view is the Isles of Scilly, because you aren't allowed to take vehicles over from the mainland. The sole ferry service (Scillonian III) is passenger-only, so you can't take a car or van unless it is via a freight ship. This is because the residents want to preserve the feeling of island life and allowing mainlanders to drive on the islands would cause congestion and damage to the local economy and environment. I just went there on holiday, and you have to either get a taxi, the bus or hire a bicycle or golf buggy in order to get around (or you could walk: it's cheaper).

Israel has a similar issue to South Korea, the sat images are super low res since they can't show anything over a certain resolution. But street maps are fully detailed. Also SV is weirdly mapped - there are tiny towns with SV but larger cities with no SV at all.

Bosnia is very hilly and the centre doesn't have many roads and if there are they're dirt path. I lived in Bosnia for a while and the terrain wouldn't be easily to get around in a car.

Well, I mean getting into Belarus for more than five days at a time is damn near impossible unless you don't have a Russian/Belarusian friend or Belarusian sponsor/hotel/hostel vouching for you. I think it’s stupid that you can’t record something that anyone can see publicly just by walking by. If it’s visible for the average person from public view then it should be legal to record it.
