PLAD 450 might be the first heavy class to be a legitimate replacement for many of the off road trucks. Its decently fast despite its size and supports alot of the more used addons with the exception of a low saddle. I still wouldn't take it down narrow trails though. AAC is actually pretty decent too. It can still get stuck in deep mud holes even with the JAT tires, but with its special transmission and always on locks its the first of its kind thats not annoying to drive and slow over less demanding conditions.

I too very much miss that. I'm not a fan of the huge trucks either. 5-6 at most should be it. I like the mid-sized 8x8s, but wish they'd add more 6x6 regular trucks though. Let those have all the addons, and the super heavies have just long log, high saddle, maintenence and fuel tank only.

8:06 that’s my favorite testing spot lol there is massive boulders close by the garage easy to get to test the collision mesh in an area everyone can relate to/retest themselves. Sort of a random throw away plus. The spare wheel on the bed makes it a great overloading truck when combined with the crazy stability. I drove around with 3 slate blocks out of the quarry twice and didn’t tip either time. The wheel kinda holds stuff in the back and crane/cab holds it in front making overloading a bit easier. Great video as always Nathan! Keep up the good work.
@NProvince

Hey thanks JJ. Ya that spot is really good for testing frame flex as well. I started using that area around the time of my bandit review to show it was an 8x8 that could boulder crawl. Ahh I never thought about the wheel on the bed working as a brace to hold cargo! Thats really good thinking. 3 slat blocks and still stayed on its wheels? I believe it for sure. I appreciate the comment and that info on the custom bed exploit!

Thanks for the review. The Plad seems very capable : 63'' tires, great stability, decent/good power and power to weight, good options. About ground clearance especially front/low but also back and side, i've seen people testing it by using the Cat TH 357 lifter. The Scout AAC seems to be very good at pulling for a scout, one metal beam is heavy (5t) and it did well in your video. That said the tires diameter is quite small (39' ?), that should limit on hard map with lot of deep mud/snow.

OP as this might be, I really think that this would've been so much nicer with a 3 slot bed. It even looks like there is space for it. I wonder if someone is going to come up with a mod for this. BTW, despite this game being called "Snowrunner", there aren't a lot of Snow maps. I would actually like the devs to give us a few more Amur level maps before they stop development for this game. The last few maps have been either hybrid snow maps or just mud maps with no personality. Amur, Imandra, etc feel like extremely well-designed maps with their own personality.

I tried the Plad today and its very good indeed. Feels very solid and stable, and even if it does not have all the attachments mastodon does, its much shorter and more manoeuvrable. That high saddle sits very high, making this a good candidate for heavy trailer towing, since they wont scrape the ground as much.

I really would like to advocate for the JAT MHS 4 on this truck. I've been able to get it through deeper conditions with those than I have with the ohs2s. Also, to use your own argument in favor of it, the MHS4 has a lower dirt/asphalt grip which should theoretically improve climb performance by allowing the tires to slip more, especially since this truck slightly lacks power.
@NProvince

I think fuel consumption is dependent more on truck than the engine? E.g. azov 6 and azov 5 shares engine but azov 5 consumes more idle and way more in operation too.
@NProvince
@NProvince Ай бұрын
It’s actually 3 things: 1. engine does have a consumption value. 2. Gearbox option ( your example of the 64131 vs the 5319 is the gearbox) the Azov 64131s gearbox options have a 0% AWD penalty when the Azov 5319 has 30% and above pending gearbox options. 3. Vehicle weight; the amount of P2W a vehicle has determines how hard the engine has to work to move its weight. If the engine is stressed and has to work harder more often, then it’s going to burn higher amounts of fuel. Examples of this can be the P12 in some instances even though having a great gearbox; its power to weight is so low that its engine is almost max effort a lot of times. In a lot of cases when I am operating trucks that have an AWD penalty associated with their gearbox, I will disengage AWD to save fuel while activating diff lock alone pending when over rear wheels. I hope that kinda makes sense

Another super review 👏💪 well done we know its fresh out of the box so to speak but in your gameplay if this truck its viable. I do think as a seasoned player if snowrunner myself us veterans of the game should understand trucks like this should not have a ton of addons ans be spected to do everything we desire we arw supposed to learn and drive these vehicles better with our skills right. The players that was every addons known to man with a vehicle that rerives from the original Faun beast ballast truck should be driven and adored with minimal extras. That part of this community I've never understand in wanting the game to soften up and for maps to be with simpler terrains smh, if that is what you play this for then saber should make a arcade style basic fun easy gmae for those players. Mods ate out there for people to make things simpler but i do no think daber should afree to soften this game up ever i for one love all the difficulty it gives, even though i despise Imandra i played it and achieved alot i just dont like snow truly as a person at all in life and playing on it in a game isn't fun for me. But we should stop expecting silver spoons with this game it began as tough and we use our minds and our patience to make it work and the love for snowrunner is just that. If this game ever slips into simplistic or designed with vehicles all set with similar full utilities i will have to day goodbye to this game it must stick to what made it.

Fair review as always. I, however, am a touch disappointed in the PLAD by way of its not so great diff-lock AND lack of some power. It's got the same weak diff-lock problem as the Derry 15C had on initial release. Hopefully that gets fixed cause I constantly had a wheel or two getting locked up on objects randomly and preventing me from continuing. Pulling the construction trailer out of the mine, I had to grab the M917 to winch it over basic boulders twice, and once ona broken rock/cement section. Once I ran outta fuel near the top, I reset that mission and used the M917 and it did the mission in 3/4 the time 😢 The AAC-58 is honestly a shocking good scout so long as you stay outta mud though.
@SentinelxPrime
@SentinelxPrime 3 ай бұрын
I dont think there's such a thing as diff lock in this game. They simulate it by sending the same amount of torque to all wheels but even with the diffs 'locked' they still can rotate independently. The problem you describe may be a symptom of heavy trucks that lack power.
@NProvince

I really like the new scout. As you said, it has good stability and significant (for a scout) weight, which helps with offroading. The PLAD... I'm not sure how to feel about it. We didn't need another superheavy beast of a truck, there are already too many of these. Yes, it's capable, but I don't like driving it - it's too heavy, turns slowly and has very annoying sound that reminds me of Azov 5319. That one is justified to have that turbo whistle, because it's so fast. But hearing that and slowly crawling through stuff? Thanks, but no.

The PLAD might be my new favorite heavy, as it fixes the problems inherit with the Derry Special despite lacking the superior MHS2 tires. It's stable and much quicker than the Special which bleeds so much power in wheelspin. Big advantage with always on diffs and why the Special, Tatras, etc.. are slow as mollasses. The weaker tires aren't even a bad thing, keeps it from being OP and with the JATs it walks through death ice like the Zixzs. I've criticized the plethora of "cookie cutter" scouts, but the new one is quite good with the special transmission, S power and always on diffs. One of the strongest light scouts. But like so many others said, we need more medium trucks like the Pike and Mack defense for the sake of variety.
@NProvince
@NProvince 3 ай бұрын
So the tires are actually the reason the PLAD is better than the Derry tbh (also balance). The Derry has heavy tire sets, the plads are all coded as super heavy which actually adds pulling power per testing and data mining. This has shown to outpull the Derry in places and that can be viewed on SD1ONEs review of this truck as well.

My focus for S13 was on the AAC. A front heavy FWD with high torque and special gearbox makes for a great vehicle to drag Exploration Units or even deliver cargo.

For the PLAD, I'm using the Westline engine with the Advanced Special gearbox with the JAT tires you mentioned. It's not the fastest, but it gives it an S rating on P2W which makes it great for hauling the heavy stuff. On the road, I'm still able to get the backend to kick out around corners which is nuts for a truck this big. The fuel consumption also isn't too bad. I do have an Atom setup for refueling but I've never needed it for any of the missions I've done with the PLAD. And the stability...it's crazy how tough it is to flip this truck.
@NProvince
@NProvince 3 ай бұрын
If you’re using the westline, then the torque has to be somewhere around 210k (ish) depending on which variant, unless you modded it. This truck with its max engine is 245k and it still has one of the lowest P2W rating in the game which is noted on this video as well. I believe you probably do manage to pull things still being that its tire codes are super heavy giving it the pulling boost. Hey if you like it and it works; then keep chugging along !
