My current makeover is our downstairs bathroom. The savior piece that propelled me to (finally) go ahead and do the remodel was a huge antique brass ornate mirror I found at a yard sale for $30! Now I've got navy and metallic wallpaper, walnut stained beadboard, and brass fixtures (all from marketplace for under $300). It's going to be epic!

Just the video I needed! I’ve been so overwhelmed lately with how I want to style my new place. I got ride of a lot of things that I never really liked in the first place but seeing all of the options on Pinterest and how well curated the rooms are has made me SO indecisive. I will definitely be using these steps- so practical! Thank you!!

Right? With all of the options out there, it can get so overwhelming! I hope the video helps though! You got this

Really helpful points to consider, thank you! I just got rid of a huge sideboard so that I can move a new armchair and book case into different positions, but I felt stuck in how best to rejig things. Most helpful is your tip to start by identifying the limitations and purpose of the room! Thank you so much - I needed this today 🙂

@@beccaamigo lol, I spent most of this evening measuring and drawing up an actual room plan then using masking tape on the floor to check there would be enough room to walk between furniture - tomorrow it's time to empty the armoire and bookshelf and do the heavy lifting :-) Thanks again for the useful video. Sending appreciation from Sunny England - apparently it's gonna be a rare 80 degrees here tomorrow, should be a fun, if sweaty endeavour!

Your videos are so on point for me! You’re telling me everything I need to hear right now. I have WAY too many ideas for my house makeover and I need to figure out a plan. I’m definitely going to take your advice about determining limits because there’s this big brown stone fireplace in my living room that I can’t remove and it does not go with my interior design style, so I’m going to have to figure out how to incorporate it somehow without making it stick out like a sore thumb. That’s one of my biggest challenges. Also, my boyfriend & I are having disagreements about paint color in the living room and other main rooms. My budget isn’t very high either. I plan on just decorating as much as I can right now with what I have and then add things down the line when I have the money for them. It won’t be perfect right away, but it will be one day 🙂.

I'm so glad this helped you! Having a plan is definitely key. Is the stone smooth? because if it is, I've used contact paper and peel and stick tiles to cover a gray fireplace before and it worked great. I've also seen people do paint wash over brick fireplaces if that's something you're able to do. You could do like an off-white or something more neutral. And yes! It can be so challenging to mesh design styles with another person. Lol definitely builds those communication and compromise skills. Homes come together over time, like that cheesy quote, "Home wasn't built in a day." take your time ;)

@@beccaamigo those are great ideas for the fireplace thank you! The stone is like a river rock I think, it’s very 3 dimensional. It’s actually pretty cool, I just wish it wasn’t brown lol. Maybe with less brown furniture in the room it will look better. But yeah, the struggle is real with the compromising lol. His taste in decor is medieval castle mixed with bachelor pad Walmart furniture whereas mine is colorful and funky. I do like mixing old & new pieces though, so that’s where I’m trying to find a middle ground with him.

I’ve watched all of your videos and subscribed right away- I love listening to you! You’re super insightful and honestly just relaxing + funny. I’ve always loved interior design in the sense that ever since I can remember I’ve always been super sensitive to my environment so I want my surroundings to feel and look good to me - it is art manifested from the heart//mind//soul. I’m picking up tips from you to help guide me to a deeper level of this art so thank you! It’s such a feeling to me and my fiancé just doesn’t even understand why I need to move furniture around at 11pm or why light distribution is a thing and lamps are better than overhead lighting 😆 and that feeling of manic like giddiness to move the new design project from your mind to your physical space is such a thing, I feel you. Can’t wait to see more videos and how you have created your home.

You know, you’re not the first to suggest this so I am considering it. People on the internet can be ruthless though so I fear the comments would spiral into chaos lol. I’ll save this comment in case I end up doing it I will tell you where to send pics!
