State Pension based on contributions is regarded as a benefit and therefore all pensioner bank accounts could be checked by the state. I find this truly horrific and a step too far. State pensions are based on your tax contributions and should not be regarded as a benefit. Will the State start means-testing state pensions? So those who contribute all their working lives may lose their entitlement!!
@pamelagaull3928

Theresa May stated clearly when she came to office that the Pension is paid for and not a benefit. Pension Credit means the person has not paid in sufficient Nat Ins contributions and therefore is getting a benefit.

The thing is the old state pension used to have 2 parts so there was a lower rate and then pension credits so I’m assuming if u get credits it is means tested the government has done away with that system for newer pensions now everyone gets the same however maybe ontop of that u might be able to get help with rent and council tax so I guess there has to be some sort of check

Now I'm pretty much very right wing, but when I lived in London, Ken Livingstone was the best thing that ever happened to London, and Thatcher got rid of him by saying no more GLC. Politically your GLC is over, and Londoners were not asked, we were merely told. By putting down the tube fares, loads more money was actually collected, becuase people actually paid. The buses then were really cheap and good. Ken livingston actually understood London.

I got talking to a bloke in Avignon a few years back. He was quite high up in the SNCF (French railway system) engineering design and development, and I was full of praise for the French rail network, their lack of delays, the comfort, the lack of rip-off prices, and their overall efficiency, and I told him I was really envious! He replied "Yes, we have the best railway system in the world, and why? Because we are always planning 15 years ahead!" Not like our 🇬🇧 rubbish system!

That's because they own most of our railways we only own the track. As usual the poor old British Taxpayers subsidises foreign railways in paying high fares. Hence this enable them to modernise their stock and allow cheaper fares. Look it up.

The mayor, council & councillors that voted to stop the Lincoln Christmas festival, used taxpayers money to goto a Christmas festival in Germany the following week,at the town Lincoln is twinned with. So they also threatened local shops and businesses if they tried to set up stalls they would be fined and done for it. The covid inquiry is a total waste of money and time. It will never get to the bottom of anything or solve anything. It’s a case of playing the blame game, but no one will get the blame in the end. The only inquiry for covid is how did the virus get out of China, why was it being made in the first place and who was responsible for funding it, and how much compensation is china going to pay for it. Government can learn from the lockdowns, it should learn from what happened and how it happened. An put in place a system in case something happens like that again. So a plan of action is in place for the future. The biggest mistakes, were from the nhs closing hospitals down, so departments built up major back logs, retirement homes going over the top and stopping access, businesses could have a restricted service. The uk could have still functioned on a limited basis, instead of locking everyone down. It’s clear that the science was not followed and uneducated mps let power got their heads. Khan blames every one apart from himself on everything. The reason he win two elections was because the first one the two biggest boroughs couldn’t vote and the sent ballots for each borough to the wrong locations. The second khan broke election rules, by claiming things he never did and postal voting which was not vetted correctly and needs to be stopped asap. As how can you have immigrants and foreigners that don’t speak English or read English voting when someone else is filling out the forms? These two elections were apparently being investigated, but nothing seems to come of these investigations and are still on going.

Sadly anything that is not taught at med school that they've been brainwashed with is off the table. These state sponsored drug dealers are programmed to keep repeat customers coming back for more and more. Most dr's push what brings in the guaranteed income. They, whether they know it or not are puppets for bid pharma. Instead of embracing all forms of treatment that may benefit people, they religiously stick to the path they've been told to/taught. This path ensures continual income. If dr's/pharma were interested in curing people they would eventually make themselves redundant, quadrillions £££ missed out on, wealth transfer negated. The system is designed to keep people sick, it keeps the wheels churning. Any Dr who dares go against the system sees their career progression halted and their opportunities restricted. So in the interest of personal gain many dr's play the game and tow the line.

I have received state benefits in this country, and I looked into the wording of this. The legislation requires the banks to check if you have £16,000 or more in your account, at the time you receive their payments. I am a militant privacy advocate, but even I have no problem with this! This really is a case, if you do nothing wrong you have nothing to hide! The problem could be that the legislation is strengthened later by a future government, but as it is, check away... carry on!

@@RottenPolitics which disabled people who need that money have 16,000 in their account? This is to stop easily detectable fraud, it is one way (triggered at bank, sent to government). @@mickc7388 I do not doubt what you say, but what was technically possible in 1967 was perhaps not financially viable at that time . While I do not pretend to know the cost of installing a system for driverless trains then or now , reason tells me that bearing in mind technology tends to become less expensive over time the avaricious demands of train drivers will reach a point where like a cancer it kills the host . As always happens there comes a moment when it is cheaper to adopt new means of doing things than staying with outmoded methods . It is as though the train drivers wish to hasten the demise of their jobs. Looking at the demands of economics from the birth of the industrial revolution I see no change in the pattern of events.

Khan gets elected because of the simple fact that the Demographic makeup of the electorate has changed out of all recognition! London has become a magnet for a large number of immigrant voters , particularly from a certain ethnicity and religion who regardless of political affiliation will continue giving him their vote because he’s one of them! That’s his core base, and with the fact that their numbers will only increase over time, he believes that he’s on safe ground! A situation that ironically, illustrates perfectly, what will most likely, eventually be the fate of the whole of the UK and other parts of Europe within a few generations time! Unfortunately Pandoras box has irresponsibly been opened, and it’s going to be an extremely difficult task to get the lid back on!

I got fed up with the train strikes so bought an EV. Now I drive to central London from Croydon for 50p return plus parking on the street you only pay the first 10 minutes of every four hours or 96p twice. The train ticket is £13.90 and that's if it's running. My EV has 280 miles of real range but a cheap old EV would be enough as the distance from Croydon to Central London is only 12 miles. Being an EV you don't pay any ULEZ or congestion charge either.

I think they should do a little homework on certain topics b4 they discuss. At times the panel appear to be waffling and making silly comments e.g. the govt passing a bill to investigate bank accounts re benefit fraud. Mike made a comment ‘they just won’t put their benefits in their back account’ how does he think benefits are paid? People aren’t given a wad of cash! The money has to paid into a bank account! Anyway, I’m off to India to get a job and in the first week I’m going to have a breakdown because I’m the only white person in my office..I wonder how far my appeal will get?

What’s stopping you. If you’re not satisfied with your lot. Truth is rather then wanting deserving people like nurses to go up the earning ladder people think those up that ladder should be brought down. This is called a race to the bottom.

Not disagreeing with that sentiment. But take train drivers out of the equation we have a habit in this country of jealousy of those doing better for themselves and wanting them brought down. Rather then wanting those below to catch up.

This rule about partners / spouses not being able to automatically come or being easy to bring them into the country and having harsh conditions ….. try being the spouse of an Australian. Almost impossible to EVER return home with your foreign spouse, AND VERY EXPENSIVE to do it, The new UK law itself isn’t much different to many other nations, not saying it’s right but probably necessary for Britain right now.

What is it with privileged middle class women like these two who genuinely believe they can do other peoples jobs, men’s in particular? I’m fed up of the train strike too, but the nerve of a GP, who are endlessly mocked for complaining about over worked and underpaid, when they earn £92 grand a year and can’t even be arsed to meet patients one on one anymore, and never work weekends. Isabella’s raked it in writing a book and gets paid more per hour than every train driver for giving her opinions, whilst sat in nice warm studios. They are deluded
