LIS member here, im so thrilled that kutova kika (Veronika lindberg) is getting more recognition. Her patterns are beautiful and she seems like such a wonderful person. I'm also currently knitting the salty days sweater and I wanted to recommend going up a needle size for a super airy feel. This is what I've been doing and I LOVE the effect.

Me too! Her design style is perfect for a variety of people and the patterns are well written. I made the salty day sweater and had soooo much fun. But the stripe hype dress is hands down my favorite!!! It was a dream to make and wear.

Pattern suggestions: anything by Rebecca Clow/Creabea! Size inclusive and always adds extra ways to modify patterns. Especially her Tolsta Tee, it runs up to 67”, contains pattern for both DK and fingering weight, and extras for customising! It works great as a long sleeved tee too. But she also has more great patterns and I just love her way to include multiple variations in her patterns. Makes for patterns you can knit more than once!

Tolsta tee. So many options and good for cotton or linen wool or silk. Stripes or solid. Am making my ultimate dream scarf from made by Florence starts with a Turkish cast on but now in the round for EVER! Called kilometer scarf. Not a cowl but totally classy and forever kind of make. (You’d need more alpaca🤷🏼‍♀️.

My plan is also to make more garments this year! But I don’t knit nowdays I only crochet. I am currently crocheting the Confetti DK Pullover by Nomad Stitches. On my list is Jacket "Basic" by Nadegda Osipova that I could wear for work 🤩 I am still looking for a boxy crochet t-shirt that I like. For my son I promised a Bear Hooded Cardigan by Mon Petit Violon.

That boucle sweatshirt sounds soooo cozy 💕 for more pattern ideas, the Tolsta Tee would also be great for a summer top. I knit a fingering version last summer in cotton and love it. I’d also recommend James N Watt’s lace patterns for summer. My cotton Dappled Lace Raglan was my most worn summer knit last year and very engaging to knit! I’m knitting another one in wool and long sleeves because I loved the pattern so much.

I just finished the Sand and Sky Tank by Rachel Brockman. It uses 2 balls of Bamboo Pop Sock yarn. Size range from 31 inch to 63 inch bust. I made the medium. Fits great and is going to be perfect for the hot summers in Arkansas. I just ordered more yarn so I can make 2 more. And it will be perfect under a cardi. The only change I made was to do an icord finish at the neck and armholes.

Thank you for this video. I really love your suggestions for a way to plan projects. I struggle so often with wanting to use" that yarn that I bought for a specific pattern", and then I change my mind again. I also buy too many single skeins that I just loved and don't know what to do with, hoping they will come together somehow into something wonderful. Love your videos.

I loved this video. I knit for others and then I have nothing, at least nothing that matches. This year I am trying to plan to knit sweaters that I see in stores. Like a J.Crew Rollneck, a Johnny collar, a Jenni Kayne sweater or a lady jacket. I have the following patterns in my sights: J. Crew Rollneck: Ravello by Isabell Kraemer, Lyon Sweater by PetiteKnit. Johnny Collar: Perfect Polo by Hinterm Stein, Elisabeth Blouse by PetiteKnit. Jenni Kayne style: Viveka Cardigan, Eva Cardigan, Agnete Cardigan, September Sweater, Lata by Giselle Ukardi. A lady jacket: Chanel Blues by Hinterm Stein. PetiteKnit, Isabell Kraemer and Hinterm Stein, seem to be designers that design on what is going on today for styles.

Love the video! My goals are kinda opposite lol, as I love buying yarn and being inspired by the colours and textures to pick out a pattern to match. That does mean I'll probably end up knitting sweaters in summer but I don't mind. I'm a slow knitter and I started my salty days sweater in July last year, and I'm still working on it right now. My only goal is to pick out each pattern with the intention to learn something new, be it construction, pattern knitting or colour work.

Last summer I made a Shakerag top by Amy Christoffers. It looks striped because you alternate holding the yarn doubled and not doubled. It went so fast you could make it and another one in your spring time frame. Mine is in blue, but I bet you would make yours in something pinkish.

Loved this video!! I totally relate to the problem of buying yarn because I like the way it looks and then having to try and find an item/pattern that I can make it work for. That is every project for me 🤦‍♀️. It is one of the reasons I am really trying to get my stash down so that I can pick the item I want to have and then go out and buy the exact yarn and colour I want to have it in. I came to the same conclusion, I was making too many projects just to take part in Make alongs, because I love the community side, but it's ending up on a pile I barely use if ever. And also this year I'll start directly with tops, because when autumn came last year I completely abandoned my summer WIPs, this year I want them ready in advance.

I need to think about this more. I love making shawls, but I just don't wear them much. I live in Arkansas where we don't really get much cold weather and I am also autistic and can't handle things bulky around my neck. I love...love love sweaters, though...loose fit and/or chunky sweaters are my go to in the cooler/cold months. I should probably look into a summer sweater option, but I'd have to be very thoughtful about it since it gets up to 100 degrees F here or more. It's very humid and I get hot and I panic.

I’ve done the exact same thing in terms of planning. Looking at the gaps in my wardrobe, I want a cropped cardigan, cabled cardigan, hoodie, fun colourwork jumper, asymmetrical jumper (Purl Soho M Patmos Crewneck and Judith Brian’s jumper with a cool collar) easy light coverup, a summer top (Auri blouse), a hat and cowl. I also want a compound raglan jumper with short rows. Discovering Susan Crawford’s vintage patterns and the Nola cardigan has completely ruined my plans though, I want them all. I was knitting The Comfort Zone and I’m so tempted to frog it so I can make the Nola without buying more yarn. Realistically, I won’t knit many things this year because pain and still trying to finish my previous WIPs but it’s nice to be inspired and excited again. I love seeing someone else plan as much as I do 😂

I really like the cozy raglan by Jessie. I made mine with fingering weight wool on US5 and it’s a great fitting tee and perfect for spring and fall and laying with tanks dresses and skirts. Also really love my ranunculus for that one skein project for special yarn for a super breezy summer top. Also recommend the tolsta tee by Rebecca Clow (the creabea on KZbin) and the favo sweater by fiber tales. Basic simple dk tee with suggestions on how to change it up and a very textured sweater. Can’t wait to see what you end up choosing!

Thank you for this episode! Your comments about "knitting a season behind" really resonated with me. I'm about to start garment knitting for the first time, and was originally thinking of making a Flax sweater in worsted / aran. After this episode, I decided to go with the Anker Summer Shirt instead, mostly because it won't matter if I finish this project in the middle of summer. With the Flax, I can easily imagine binding off just as the weather is getting warm, shoving the FO to the back of my closet, and then never wearing it.

My favorite summer knit is my Ooh La La by Isabell Kraemer. I made mine out of K+C cotton fingering yarn. It was so fun to make and I love that the simple lace panel in the front lets your outfit underneath show.

Love your dream knits. I think buying and working with all the speckled yarn is fun, but I learned pretty quick to only use those in socks, and sometimes accessories. I really need solids/tonals to carry me through for as long as I want my Knits to last and work as styles change.

The last few days, I've been thinking about how KZbin hadn't shown me you nor some of the other knitters I watch. I like the idea of planning some of these things, like what would I like in a couple of months when Utah has the fake springs over and over? I don't have any wearables going on for me right now but I'm quickly finishing a blanket for me and will be getting on my stuff in March. I have a lot of things going on and I've been redoing my plans to create a bit more balance. One of those is always having a project for me moving forward. I also keep working on UFOs. Hoping to get to a point where I don't have UFOs at all.

Maybe give some thought to modern Christmas colors for your holiday sweater. Pink, raspberry, turquoise, teal. That would fit your personality so much better than traditional red and green. I may join you for that make. I’ve been wanting to make a festive Christmas sweater for a couple years now.

You have a great mix of designers included! That’s refreshing. I’m currently knitting my second Rock It Tee by Tanis Fiber Arts. My first is a real go-to from spring through fall. If you don’t want to use mohair, you can stripe it with two different fingering yarns. It’s a great way to use a couple of single skeins. Or you don’t have to stripe it at all! The other tee I’ve knitted is the Tolsta by Rebecca a Clow. It’s comfy and there are lots of variations.

The Festive Yoke Pullover (and there is a cardigan version too!) by Skiendeer Knits is my ultimate Christmas sweater. Its colorwork and you can do all over or just the yoke, and there are multiple charts you can insert to use, the possibilities are endless! I am currently knitting the Moonset Tee by Ozetta. She has so many great, basic patterns you may love! The Moonset Tee is a V-neck and I remember you saying you don't like V-necks but she has others that have round necks!

I join with others in applauding your advocating for size inclusivity. We seem to have similar taste in knits and we have (unintentionally) knit many of the same projects - Quadraphenia, Slipstravaganza, Geogradient. I would like to suggest Isolda Teague's Gullane Tank for your summer knit. I made one in silk and have the original yarn to make another. Very interesting construction and so many sizes. She also has the Anyday Sweatshirt which I plan on making this year. Good luck on your travels and I look forward to your next videos.

Love all your planning and ideas! Can't wait to follow along as you make more things that you will actually wear! I just got the Nightshade pattern by Expression Fiber Arts, which is a beautiful t-shirt pattern with cables on the cuffs and hem. I really want to make it this summer!

Always happy to see your pattern ideas! You’ve done all the hard work finding them all! I’m starting a Tolsta Tee very soon which I think looks like a good basic garment. Take care x and hugs to Toaster!

Great decision on your planning. When I got the yarn for Joji L. La Praire sweater from Destach back in November I knew I would start it in January so I could have it ready for spring.

That was a brilliant idea re: looking at garments (knitted, handmade or not) we wear all the time and using them to plan a handknit (or crocheted) wardrobe. I love the way you sketched your plan out, and it was very helpful as I tend to knit without a plan (but I do end up wearing most of the things I make thank goodness). Thank you! I'm going to do something similar to help me decide how to use the yarn in my pantry (as I have quite a lot of it!).

My plans this year are more cardigans, I hate knitting flat but I just don’t wear my sweaters so I am going to experiment with garter stitch and steeking. I am also working on fit as that’s my second issue with sweaters, so currently trying the Framework Raglan by Jessie Maed Designs. You do the yoke based on your upper bust, then do bust shaping then waist shaping. Super excited to see how it fits.

It's raining heavily here, and just as you showed that thunder clip right at the beginning, my neighbour brought her bin in (big wheely bins, sound like trucks, or thunder) scared me heck out of me.😂😂😂😂😂

So fun! I keep moving my items around! I need to figure a good plan like you! For a spring/summer tee I have the Dingley Dell by Isabel Kraemer! I’ve seen other make it and it looks so good on everyone! And I’m interested in the construction… the sleeves are set in but worked as a raglan! I can’t wait to see what you make!
