@@OG3Maliii I started out on a G920, upgraded to a T300 , ended up getting a faulty one and decided to return it and have now purchased a Simagic Alpha Mini. I'd say the Logitech is the best bet if you want something that lasts you years. ThrustMaster also has trouble with overheating. You should start out with something cheaper like this to make sure that you enjoy the hobby, I've used my G920 for about 2500 hours now and can fully well justify an upgrade. ( Running TLCM pedals as well for the last 4 months and I love them)

@@DavidGarcia-oi5nt Have the same setup right now, that you used to have (g920 + TLCM) :) Thinking about Simagic Alpha Mini as well. Have you received the Mini? How does it feel? I'm also considering this TS-XW base to save some $ (compared to the Mini) and but still gain performance in AC drifting compared to g920..
@DavidGarcia-oi5nt
@DavidGarcia-oi5nt 3 жыл бұрын
@@ubufamily hey bud :). I received my Alpha Mini on August 03 and I absolutely love it! It is worth every single cent to me! It feels so amazingly smooth and powerful , I would want to describe it as the wheel is so fast now that the cars basically drive themselves and behaves more like a real steering wheel would. Even though I suck at drifting other people tell me the wheel it's great for it ;) I personally find the TS-XW to be terribly overpriced for me in Canada, on Amazon it comes out to basically the same price as my Mini did, except that if you can find a used TS-XW this might be worth it. (I even got the most expensive Mini package, tho I can only find the TS-XW P310 SPARCO mod). Also the TS-XW is filled with plastic in its construction while the Mini is all metal in base and rim, with zero reported overheating. Though I just wanted to make sure that you knew that the Simagic Alpha Mini does not support either console (I'm on PC), so if you want to get a DD wheel for your Xbox then the Fanatec CSL DD is your only option and this is genuinely the same price as a TS-XW wheel!! You should join us in the Simagic discord server so you can ask all the questions!! Just search for it on Disboard :D

I faced this exact conundrum getting into sim racing last year and I started with the TS-XW, the review is bang on. I began with a table, flex was a nightmare and I had to buy a rig, the pedals fit fine to my rig but they aren't good, there is no real feel to them and locked up a lot under braking, upgraded to the T-LCMs and they were a fantastic upgrade, took about 3 hours of practice with the load cells and I wasn't just better, it was like night and day and I basically never lock my wheels up any more. I'd say the TS-XW (and probably TS-PC) with the T-LCMs is plenty good enough to get you bitten by the sim racing bug. I'd say my number 1 warning is, you will need a rig to get the most of out this, so buy with that in mind (I didn't!)

I had the G27. When it died, I got the T300 that came bundled with the T3PA pedals. My next upgrade was the T-LCM pedals when they came out. I got a good deal on a used CSW 2.5 with the round P1 wheel. Because I already have my loadcell pedals, there was no need for me to go with the Club Sport V3 ones, and I already have a spring replacement mod for a more progressive rate on the brake. My next upgrade will be from my NextLevel DD wheel stand to a full profile rig and maybe go direct drive down the road.

The pedals on the TS-XW are shocking quality compared to the base. I switched out to my old metal pedals that shipped with the T500RS which are effectively the same pedals but coated in metal just for a slightly more quality feel. Definately worth upgrading the pedals though because all the default Thrustmaster pedals are pretty poor quality.

Good day Sir, how is your experience with your TS PC Ferrari 488? I really want Fanatec but TM is the one accessible w/o the ridiculous prices from resellers here in Asia (other than Japan). However, I am hesitant because I've been reading issues regarding the TS PC especially the rattling/cracking sound on brand new ones.

Mine does the rattle thing, it's only miner, and only on huge bumps, curbs, or crashing, it was fine but beamng decided to send a massive spike or something, to the vibration motors, I haven't taken it apart yet to fix it, but I imagine it's minor, stripped threads, loose bolts etc. Other than that it's fantastic, and the only logical upgrade from one is a DD wheel, the clubsport is kinda a sideways move, I have about 600 hrs on Mine, and it's such a major upgrade from a Logitech or the t150/TMX

I bought the TS300RS, the T LCM pedals and the TH8 7 speed gear shifter(I haven't used the shifter yet). All on a GT Omega adjustable stand. I finally got it all adjusted and setup up yesterday. So far I used it on F1 2020 and AC for PS4. I spent about 4 hours on AC last night just mainly doing practice laps around the Monza F1 track with various cars. This is my first wheel and pedal set. But so far the feedback is pretty good and everything works as it should. You can really tell the thing is working at the chicane at the end of the start/finish straight. And at other parts of the track where it isn't as smooth as you'd think it would be, you can really feel it. So far, I feel this is the best bang for your buck in entry level SIM equipment. It's above the toy level of the T80 and the T150, but it's at the price point where you get a lot of value equipment wise for your money. My intent was to just enjoy F1 2020 properly, but if I really enjoyed it, move on to some of the other sims and potentially play online against others. At that point I may upgrade to a direct drive, I would probably make the move to Fanatec, the CSL stuff looks to be good enough for me, I'll probably move to a pc based system and do a proper cockpit rig of some sort at that point. But in the event, the SIM racing hobby wasn't for me, I feel I bought a decent entry level rig that someone else could enjoy at a discount, that didn't break the bank for me, and would have decent value for resale.

Just watching to give you the view count. Pretty damn happy I recently upgraded from a tmx pro to a csl elite that I got minimally used for $500 usd with pedals. Figured I’d grab that since I know DD wheels are simply out of my price range, and the new fanatic one won’t be in stock for probably close to a year after launch. These videos are so good! I am in the exact position of having sold my Xbox and got a PC. Upgraded from a GT Omega wheel stand and the sofa to the seat frame and seat add on with a monitor stand. Even just that has totally blown my mind as far as immersion and comfort goes. Next on the list is pedals then wheel base. It frustrates the hell out of me that the TS-XW package contains the same pedals as the TMX Pro set I already have. It’s a major set back and has lead me into looking at the TS-PC but upgrading to the T-LCM pedals first. Really looking forward to your thoughts on that set up. Seems like there have been a few issues with getting them to work together. Had an eye on Fanatec gear but it’s so hard to get hold of in the UK and demand during lockdown + Brexit have sent prices way above where they should be.

I have about the same opinion as you, at this price point, the wheel base should be paired with at least the t3pa pro pedals like you get on the t500rs, they are also not the best but at least you get a more solid pedal base for the price, in a ideal world this kit would have come with the t-LCM load cell pedals, that would be the perfect pair up for me,loved the review looking foreward to the ts-pc review with the t-LCM pedals.👍

I did the switch from a G920 to the TS-XW several month ago. In Europe (probably in the rest of the world as well) you can by those things separately. I saw some reviews before buying that told about the same thing for the pedals in this kit. So I bought the TS-XW, the sparco P310 add on and T-LCM pedals separately. A kit like this makes much more sense. One thing to keep in mind is that since the p310 wheel is not centered, it's much harder to use it for rallying or drifting. You will need to buy another wheel if you want a proper rallying experience.

I can firmly say the TLCM pedals are a major upgrade from the T3PA set. I had my tp3a pedals for a few year and the unfortunately got water damaged while some housework was being done. I looked for a new set and found a second hand set of TLCM pedals on eBay for £160 (not sure what that is in au). I got them and bolted them to my wooden home made flimsy af rig. Combined with my Thrustmaster TMX wheel and the th8a shifter. My lap times improved 2 seconds on most tracks when racing. When drifting with friends I found I could be more accurate meaning I could tandem closer to my friends ect. I have don’t one mod to my TLCM pedals which made them feel even better. This is the mod that Sim Racing Corner shows on his channel. I can honestly say they feel much better now and my lap times have improved again with this mod. I am running an Xbox so therefore I’m playing assetto corsa and forza motorsport/horizon. All I need is a new wheelbase and a handbrake as I managed to destroy my TMX with a handbrake mod. Mod worked perfectly until someone tripped over my handbrake wire, ripping the b button circuit out of the wheel. I’m thinking of going with the TSXW with the sparco handbrake. I’ll just need to build a new sim rig first

I began my sim racing journey with a t300rs that came with these pedals and quickly upgraded to the tlcm pedals in a month. A great set of loadcell brake pedals is a no brainer when it comes to upgrade paths and which to prioritise. The t300 or even the ts series of wheelbases would no doubt suffice many a sim racer, but I simply had the itch for wanting more detail despite being constrained budget-wise and also what’s available on the market. Instead, I went straight for a direct drive wheelbase in the m10 instead of settling for a ts series wheelbase, as it costs about the same as fanatec clubsport v2 would where I am.

Actually the 'old' G25 / G27 with just a linear spring in the brake, and this Thrustmaster pedal without the rubber mod, are actually pressure sensitive. Very weak, but with a linear spring, force and potentiometer change linearly with eachother. So yes, you're measuring position, but if the position doubles, so does the force. Tricky to control because it is so light. A rubber mod like the one provided by TM here is actually probably more problematic unless they very precisely alter the calibration of the pot. Feels better on the foot, and with cars that have no downforce, might be more controllable. For high downforce cars where you have to bleed off the brakes from 100% to 0% smoothly, this is probably way harder with the rubber mod installed. As far as I know, Logitech say they changed the 'curve' on the potentiometer to reflect the progressive spring or whatever they use. If this is true, I would expect that brake pedal to feel more natural than the TM pedal with rubber mod. Despite feeling 'weak' I wouldn't use the rubber mod on the TM pedals.

One of things I relatively quickly did was to replace the pedals with a set of Fanatec CSL Elie LC. The extendable arms on the wheel stand are set low to match a wall mounted single 43" 4K TV and so the stability is just fine for the TS-XW. Being a V8 Supercars fan in simulators the TS-XW is right at home. Good old Assetto Corsa with the V8SCorsa mod as well as FVR V8 Supercars mod in rFactor 2 and I'm set.

The thrustmaster pedals with conical mod can be worlds better than you had them setup to be, you need to adjust the cone so it sits closer to the brake, which reduces the amount of travel before you hit the threshold, you start getting pressure feedback sooner and you have to push fairly hard to brake fully. I now have T-LCM pedals with an elastomer mod, but honestly the conical mod isn't far off when you set it up right.

Thomas jackermeier said in the "your CSL DD questions answered video" that the CSL elite was faster but had less Torque than the CSL clubsport, simply because of different cog ratios for each model. This plus your video + the fact that thrustmaster says their alim is 400w pic, made me think the TS-PC /TS xw will still be very competitive compared to the 5Nm CSL DD. Can't wait for the actual review. I bet a DD is still a DD and will be better but thrustmaster is still relevant if they lower their wheel base price below 350 (considering their wheel are cheaper)

I'm new to sim racing I just started few months ago but I'm loving it. I have a Omega Apex Stand, Thrustmaster T300RS with stock Pedals (2 pedals set only) the brake it's lose like the throttle no pressure at all lol But thanks to you Will - Boosted Media and to Barry - Sim Racing Garage... I'm planning to update to a Sim Lab P1-X cockpit, Simtrecs ProPedal GT (I alredy pre-ordered because this could take time), Fanatec Clubsport Shifter and now comes the part I'm not sure about I don't know if I buy the VRS DirectForce Pro DD or the Simucube 2 Pro DD or Triple or 49 ultrawide screen I'm not sure about this too! But I'm really exited I think whit this gear I can really get more consistent and this way be more prepared to be race win contender in iRacing.

I bought the Ricmotech load cell for the T3PA's and it is awesome but overpriced. It ended up costing me about $260 CND to get it after import fees and shipping. At the time you couldn't find T-LCM's anywhere but now you can get T-LCM's locally for $269+tax.

It's expensive and makes your brake feel like a solid brick. For the same amount of money as the T3PAs + Loadcell you can get TLCMs or CSLs that have a load cell and feel more like an actual brake.

Originally had the T3PA pedals with my TX and using the conical brake mod (or alternative mod that I eventually used) is a must imo - you can also adjust how close it is to the pedal and finding a position that suits you is essential! I got totally dialled in with them and when I upgraded to the T-LCM it took me ages to get used to them - think it took about 3 months before I could match then eventually beat my old T3PA times!

I use these Thrustmaster pedals on the carpet and haven't noticed any flex whatsoever. Also, who breaks like that with the heel up lol. But I wouldn't use the mod, it just adds inconsistency. Also, the brake pressure needed to apply is definitely increasing, maybe you're not used to breaking on pedals like that because you're used to LCs. However, I'm looking forward to the next episode of the series to see how Loadcells do on the foldable rig. Trying to put the CSL DD with Loadcell pedals in that foldable rig because I'm travelling between cities as a student over the next two years.

Thank you for this video series. I bought a Logitech G920 and is interesting to hear your thoughts about the brake pedal. I struggle with it, I can't feel where I am and as a consequence never brake anywhere near as good as I can with an analogue trigger. I'm keen to see this series develop as at the moment I'm happier using my trusty controller. You may convince me that I need to try something different rather than giving up, which is how I feel atm.

It's funny to me because a week ago I switched over from these pedals, T3PA, which I must have used for around 5 years, to Heusinkveld Sprints, and at first I had less control. My feet are now so used to the potentiometers that braking based on pressure felt odd. Now I'm gradually getting used to it after the week, but it definitely is a weird thing to have to re-do a muscle memory like that. Road cars are alright since they too have a large amount of travel, but especially now with racecar-like settings on the Sprints where there's barely any travel with pressure, it's a massive change.

Id say if you racing not drifting or rallying(tho rallying in the logitech is completely fine). Just upgrade to the loadcell pedal like csl elite or tlcm. Much more worth it if you are just racing because you dont really need to catch slide unless you are making mistakes. Even if you need to react to mistakes you can but wheel base upgrade really just improve the immersion rather than competitive advantage.

I have both T150 and TS-PC, and by my experience, there's no huge difference in terms of drivability when grip driving between the two wheels. Of course, TS-PC feels so much better but at my level it's just more worthwhile to get more practice done and maybe a better pedal(I have T3PA with load cell mod, which helps a lot, but still feels not so nice)

When using the T3PA conical brake mode, I adjust brake gamma in controller settings. I like it so that it's about 50% force on the rubber stopper. I think it simulates real brakes better, otherwise you really lack all finesse while braking. It's not ideal but still much better than just spring tension. Currently i'm experimenting with a squash ball in place of the rubber mod and while the overall feel is stiffer, I think it feels much better and I think I'll be able to create better muscle memory with it.

I’m currently looking at upgrading my driving rig from a Logitech G25 to a Thrustmaster TS-XW Servo Base, along with a TM Rally Wheel R383, a set of T-LCM pedals, and a TH8A gearstick. I use an XBOX One S, run my G25 through a Creative Minds DriveHub, and only play Forza Horizon 4. I’m looking for something that delivers an immersive experience, but ultimately something that I can just plug in and play. I hear that for Thrustmaster wheels, you need to install drivers and firmware on a PC. I’m a Mac user and don’t own a PC. On Thrustmaster’s website, it doesn’t list Mac drivers. Google also doesn’t provide any answers. Does this mean I would not be able to use the wheel as intended if I can’t connect it to a computer for updates? If so, what could I do?

With the T3PA, as someone who has put so many hours through them that I have had to replace the stock springs due to them breaking, can not understand why every reviewer recommends the conical brake mod. That thing is awful, reducing (even on the most relaxed setting) your pedal travel to less then a third so you can have a couple of millimeter of "progressive" braking at the end, that feels like pressing into a bump stop. It is way better to not use it, as you can way better modulate the brake with the additional travel you get when using it. I can recommend to go for aftermarket springs as they can be way stiffer and probably better for a lot of users, especially those in shoes
@boostedmedia
@boostedmedia 3 жыл бұрын
Without the mod there’s no defined point for threshold braking. Simple as that. I’m sure mods could take care of it but that wasn’t the subject of this video. We’ll cover aftermarket and DIY mods later.
@dergeneralfluff
@dergeneralfluff 3 жыл бұрын
@@boostedmedia I have not driven with load cell pedals (one day I will), so for me threshold braking is in the mind, pushing the pedals down just before the car locks, and then bleeding off into the corner. For me the cone has been a brick wall, not sure if I just got one with extra hard rubber, but I do not get any pression of it. And you can definitely trail brake better without the Cone using the extra travel. I just had a way better experience not using it, everyone can try this thing as it is included with the pedals for free, but personally I speak out against the blanket recommendation. I made my point in this manner because I see nobody really holding this position, and people need to know this is not essential, and might hurt your experience (as someone who has used them at a pretty high level for a long time). I mentioned the Spring replacement in passing as I have experience with using it and just tagged it onto the comment, I did not expect this in this video. Edit: And I should probably watch a video to the end before I comment, it just has been a forgone conclusion for so many times

I started out on a G920 and used it until I wore out the upshift paddle, I moved to a TS-XW and to be honest I didn't really notice much difference but I also wasn't really looking for any. I just wanted to be able to play. It took a little while but I was able to get the brake set up with the mod and managed to get reasonable consistent. I then upgraded the pedals to a set of Simworx Pro GT V2 (I think) and have been pretty happy with them. Although as I was typing this I went and had a look at the brake pedal because it's been feeling a bit weird lately, and it looks like I've burst the seal on the hydraulic damper. I guess it's time to see if they'll sell me a new damper.
