Here is the wade fishing summer edition that is a continuation of my Favorite Apps video. In this video, using the apps as explained in my previous video, I have drawn out an approach to how I would approach an area when wade fishing. This would be wade fishing for speckled trout or wade fishing for redfish and flounder. We talk about different lures, strategies, and overall summertime tips...

I’m a first generation fisherman, been self teaching for about 5 years now. Like others, KZbin has been my fishing ‘textbook’.... and I have to say that in 5 years of watching I find your channel to be the absolute best resource for learning. This is probably my 5th comment ever on KZbin but you deserve it brother. I’m really looking forward to booking my first guided inshore trip with you one of these days, you’ve definitely won my business. Please keep up these style of videos where you teach about conditions instead of just GPS spots, I’d love to see one of how you fish east bay in the future.

If I could put two loves on this one, I would! I appreciate the support and the fact you’ve taken your time to let me know what I’m doing is helping. And I really love to see someone wanting to get better more than to just learn a “spot”. If it were just spots, then this sport would be muchhhhhh easier.

Capt Caleb TV this sport is definitely very difficult, unless hard heads become a game fish then I have tons of “spots” haha. But I’m finally starting to understand patterns and your videos help a ton. I’m impressed by your editing skills and your content for someone who just started on KZbin, I’ve seen many other channels take more than a year to get to your editing skills (but not even close to your level of usable content). Keep it up man, I’m excited to see what’s to come. If you ever need some ideas on what type of videos to make feel free to send me a message, I’d love to help the channel out the way you help us.

Best channel out there by far. There are lots of folks catching fish, but not many opening up and telling you how to catch them. I listen to bite me podcast all day at work and watch your videos in the evenings. As a transplant to the coast from Central Texas & having never fished inshore until this year, this stuff is gold to me! Also appreciate the advice on the reel the other day !

Thanks for the kind words! I’ve always enjoyed teaching without being one of those “go to this spot” guys. That spot is only good for a bit. Anything you can learn that is the overall big picture is timeless.

Capt., great info. I love the way you are breaking down how you attack a specific area. Your explanation of your thinking and methodology of why you do what you are doing. Along with what baits your throwing and when your changing your baits or tactics based on conditions and weather. I CANNOT wait for the next video. I like the idea of breaking it down further and talking about one specific aspect instead of the whole "wade fishing 101" subject. But, more than that, I think it would be great to continue with the larger overview for the next 2 seasons. You have done Spring (Apps video) and Summer, now let's continue with a overview of Fall and Winter Strategies!!!! I can't wait!!

Hey bro, you have the heart of a teacher. You've got this KZbin thing figured out. I've learned so much more from this channel, already, than any other and please keep'm coming. A friend I work with has been the greatest mentor over the last few years and I've been watching videos to build on what he's taught me. Your content (including video footage) is helping put everything into a very understandable perspective. Thanks again!

Great informative video. During the summer if the wind is not to bad I like to fish the North Shoreline, the South wind and grass helps with oxygen and seems to attract more fish. Thanks for such good content here in the home area. I normally fish West Galveston Bay and trying to learn more of it. Started Fishing inshore after moving here from KY 6 years ago and got my first inshore boat shortly after. I stumbled onto your channel looking into using Corky lures in the winter time and then found the video on the Surgeon knot. It's been a life saver. Keep the content coming, stay healthy, and one day I will use and catch a fish on a corky with the help of your videos.

As always, another great and informative dialogue. Without a doubt, I always pick up some valuable tools to improve my skill set and that is exactly what I seek. Another comment referred to the fact that you are not just giving out "spots", and this is a refreshing change from many of the KZbin fisherman. You are teaching what to do when you get to your own spots and how to find new spots of your own. This is why I tune in on a constant basis. If I wanted "spots", I would just refer to my Hook&Line maps and be done with it. Relocating from regular fishing grounds of the Texas Coastal waters to the Orange Beach/Gulf Shores Alabama are and will be living on Mobile Bay. Have fished it numerous times but very, very different from the marshes of the Galveston, Freeport and Brazoria area. Should you have any "words of wisdom" for that part of the world, I'm all ears. Thanks for the thought, time, experience and work you pass on in your videos.

Strawberry and white tout tails were first thing I ever threw in salt. I have been through every color there is and I now find myself on the basics: red/white, pumpkinseed/char, green/white. Even fishing the weedless gold spoon to site-cast reds. The more things change the more they stay the same. Kelly Wiggler makes a willow tail like that gambler lure that I like and is pretty durable to fish weedless.

Sometimes it’s tough when there is a lot of bait. If I can locate the fish, I’ll put it past his face and either dance it or make it run past him, depending on how I see him react. If I can’t see them, I’m just gonna mess around until something works and stick to that.

Another great video! I never post to KZbin too except your vids and hope to hire you one day when this pandemic passes. Question: when you see bait and occasionally looks like it’s being chased and in distresses but no slicks are popping and not getting bites (hopefully not because of operator error :P), how long do you stick it out in that general vicinity before moving on?
@CaptCalebTV
@CaptCalebTV 4 жыл бұрын
That’s a gut feeling thing. You’re not always going to see slicks when fish are eating... Just have to recognize the bait that’s being chased and what isn’t. Also, if there is too much bait around, you can sometimes find yourself just being ignored because there is so much to choose from. Buttttt, if you feel there are fish there, the saying does, “never leave fish to find fish”.

Try a paddle tail and Throw out and reel it in. My favorite is a hogies, their cheap and durable. Salt and pepper works great on entire coast for reds mainly, but trout will nail it and flounda. The tail waggles and can feel the thump. early and late and or sometimes during mid day. when you feel the tail waggle on rid rip well you know you have a good sensitive rod.But want a decent back bone to set hook at around 30 to 40 percent from butt of rod. I would lean to 35 to 40 percent for big trout and reds . To sensitive, can loose bigger reds due to less pounds of pressure on hook penetration. The yo yo retrieve works great too, I use it to search in the water column. most times they will hit it half way up or at the end of the yo yo. Once you dial in that retrieve pattern,it is extremely deadly. Reds will nail it just swimming it shallow over grass. have caught large trout just reeling it semi fast as well. Even flounda, something about it trying to get away they nail it hard without thinking.

I’ll usually give 200 minimum. Unless they are away from their boat and I can get to where I’m wanting to fish without coming close.
