I was raised vegetarian so grew up on a diet of mainly pulse vegetables as a main source of protein with other plants and a small amount of dairy and eggs. When I was in my 20s I tried out a more standard Western diet and ended up putting on weight and experienced some health issues. That prompted me after some years to return the plant-based diet of my childhood. I ended up losing weight and the health issues disappeared. The healthiest populations on the planet are those that eat a plant-based diet full of a mixture of fruit and veg with minimal animal products. I'm not saying that everyone necessarily needs to go vegan or vegetarian, but a massive reduction in animal foods particularly in the west is needed. Added to that, a near elimination of ultra-processed foods (that also includes vegan varieties).

A video covering the most effective options for solving the issue many people have complained about with legumes would be much appreciated. I've read and heard many firsthand testimonials from people who give up on trying to incorporate beans, and also give up on veganism itself because of painful bloating and gas. And they have tried giving it time, and letting their systems adjust. Giving it time is not effective for them (myself included, and I have given it plenty of time. It - the promised or supposed adjustment or adaptation - just isn't happening; and those who promise it have lost credibility). Digestive enzymes haven't worked either. And I am far from alone. You can find plenty of reviews sharing the experience of their ineffectiveness. So _truly_ effective solutions would go a long way toward facilitating better health for many people.

I see it's been almost a year and no one has responded yet. I also get horribly bloated and IBS symptoms due to fibromyalgia. I soak the beans, legumes etc overnight, then throw out the soaking water and rinse about another 3 times. If necessary, I rinse them after cooking too, which I do in a wonderbag (to save power, we have rolling blackouts three times a day here). So that ensures they are very well cooked overnight. I seem to have less of a problem with chickpeas and fresh and frozen peas. If oxalates are your problem, there are some fabulous substitutes with lower oxalates, and they are even saying these days that the benefits of high oxalates outweighs the effects, and to make sure you get enough calcium and not too much Vitamins C, and to mix the high and low oxalate items.

Try eating no more than 14 beans a day, and add spices, especially ginger, always soak over night discard soak water rinse and cook for 10 mins rapid boil, and remove the sapon foam on top, then simmer until very soft or preferably mushy dhal or soup, do not eat with carbohydrates or dairy or other proteins or fruit, only with non starchy vegetables. Always eat beans with something sour, vinegar, dry mango powder, pomegranate dry seed juice, lemon/lime, tamarind, tomato etc. Try every other day or 1 to 3 times a week..See about strengthening your digestive fire Agni, have pinch of salt and slice of ginger 15 mins before meals. Most beans need cooking to remove poisons, but chickpeas can be soaked overnight and best eaten raw, as well as sprouts, especially mung bean sprouts. Some beans will react more than others, maybe try them all and find one or two that work for you. Good luck!
