Gorgeous George ! #excusethepun 😆😜 It looks GREAT 👍 👌

It has to be rummy nose tetras or neon tetras. Although I think the neons (big shoul) would really compliment that colour of discus

Hell I am considering taking the "beast" out of my storage and finding a home for it and setting it up. The beast was originally set up as saltwater , then converted to freshwater set up. The beast is a 200 gallon tank , stand , canopy , lights , filtration all in an unused closet in my basement. It takes up an entire wall. So have to figure out where to place it

I love that George shows work "in progress". He shows us algae issues with new set-ups and other problems. It is not great when people just do a big reveal of something that is already perfect. When you have a problem, but know that "oh that happened to George" people will stay engaged and not throw in the towel.

Pure, pure white Dwarf Angel's in a happy 20 - 30 plus shoul! Against all the Black Back Ground and the Amazing Discus would look stunning. I'm now depressed, I have seen the tank and fish that dreams are made of.... but, I'll never have but hey I can carry on dreaming eh with my small tank and 3 Fancy Goldfish! I must say it is nice to finally see a tank where the fish are the emphasis don’t get me wrong I love the look of everything you do. But for me the fish will always be the star of the show and this tank is beautiful
@phillamoore1572 жыл бұрын
How beautiful. I've conquered just about every tank I've ever wanted....except a planted discus tank, which from what I've heard, is incredibly challenging. After installing my wall reef tank, my financial advisor (better known as my wife), I've been cut-off, at this point...lol. So, I'll just have to live vicariously through you. Outstanding job, George!

Your book is great, George. Lots of great tips and ideas. I also like this tank and the discus are exactly what I would choose. They are beautiful. My 110 gallon is on its way. Mine will have a rim. But I am making my own cabinet. The basic 2X4 skeleton is finished. It's all deck screws and waterproof wood glue. It will have a stained red oak outside part of which will be structural to help with the cross stresses. It will have an end cabinet as well as the central part like yours but it will have a sump filter. It will be SA themed with Apistos, Angels, Rams, Tetras, Pencils, Corys and Hatchets, some shrimp and snails. Most of my equipment will be American made. All the best, George and keep up the good work.

No shoal fish, discus serenity is unique, I miss mine. Absolutely my favorite fish. Don’t have a tank anymore, but you got me flying back to memory lane when you said how intelligent they are. They were real pets to me, recognized me, actually scared of strangers and they felt better when I was around them. Very costly fish though, I wish they were less high maintenance, but again, absolute stunners you got there.

Thanks George. Wonderful to see this tank at last. Gorgeous fish. You enjoy them for all of us who can't own them and we'll just watch on admiringly. My favourite fertiliser is Osmacote for ponds. I only add it underground every 6 months and the plants definitely tell me when they need more and respond quickly. It's only a new tank and I'm sure the plants will appreciate a helping hand until the biofilm bulds. Enjoy and thanks again for your videos and devotion to this channel. Regards Matt

Awesome tank George, i love it ! For additional fish i would keep it simple. A small school of Corydora Sterbai. They tolerate the higher water temperature. Red Beckford Pencil fish. Nice dither fish with contrasting colours from the Discus fish. And something else as Tetras. Not sure if you want algae eaters. But i have an Albino Butterfly Bristlenose Ancistrus. When it swims through the tank it looks majesticly with the long fins.

The tank an the fish look amazing! I would add some corydoras, perhaps sterbai (my favorites), to hoover up any leftover food and a large school of Cardinal tetras. The reds and blues in tetras will compliment the reds and blues in your discus really beautifully, I think. Looking forward to seeing the tank mature over the time now. It is probably going to become one of my favourite tanks on KZbin of all times! I shall be eagerly waiting for updates. My only very slight criticism would be about the fast moving floating plants. As useful as they are, visually in my opinion, they slightly spoil the tranquillity of the slow and calming energy of the discus. What a super video! Thank you for sharing your experiences- the bad and the good :)

Hi George, Firstly I would like to thank you on another great vlog. Beautiful tank. Love the scape. Other fish to consider are Corydoras sterbai for cleanup and cool factor. At least 12 for that tank. For a free swimming fish I love the old standard of Cardinal tetra. The blue stripe would go good with the beautiful Discus you have. If you wanted something else, rummy nose tetras would just glow in that tank. Just because they are common doesn't mean they are not spectacular.
@justjamie16324 жыл бұрын
Beautiful tank I love lidded tanks. My fish suggestion is adding a few flying foxes, and maybe a few long finned bristle nose plecos (the blue eyed ones are really pretty) - the shrimp will be continue to be tasty treats for the discus they love hunting.
@justjamie16324 жыл бұрын
Also if you want a little shole I suggest some black neon tetras - the flying foxes and the pleco will help with algae on the plants

In Singapore where i am living, water temp is constantly 28-29 degree C. It seems like what you have mentioned is so true as my 3 month old 80% planted tank give a lot of organic waste, not to mention waste from the fishes. Having doing 50-60% water change weekly seems to be not enough as the dust and other algae keeps coming back. I will try more freq water change to see if helps or not. Oh as for shoaling fishes, bigger tetra like congo tetra might be a good choice.

Nice to see this complete video. A very huge commitment this tank with these fish! I understand there is plenty reasons to get my temperature a bit down. My experience with the bleheri is that the stems tend to grow to absurd length before the leaves start. The leaves also are less long but more compact and coming out of the water... Makes me wonder if I actually had Bleheri in my tank?

Great video and great timing. My new roommate when we find a place is a master at all things fish and manages a lfs. So he can help me with my 55g and 15g, and he said his first profect after getting his other tanks set up, is a custom 125g discus tank with r/o water in barrels because we live near St Pete Florida and have horrible living situations. I dont drink and neither does he, and i dont need another drunk roommate. But living in a home with a tank like that will be incredible. Plus all the stuff he can teach me. I only started about 2 years ago in the hobby and feel like i should know a lot more than i do by now, so im a bit insecure. What do you find their absolute favorite food is?

Nice tank! I have a 6ft planted discus tank and a large school of rummy nose tetras work well to clean up the food mess in the water column. I can push water changes out to once every two weeks (handy for when I go away). Unfortunately anything smaller (like a neon tetra) might end up being expensive discus food.
