I was surprised to see the option too. It is amazing how auto steer has developed over the past 20 years. I saw Deere auto steer on this farm in June 2003 on a 9520. At the time it seemed like an interesting option. Now it is a must have.

There are also other chores: maintenance, repairs, and etc. It is not an easy business to be in. Farmers are the only folks that buy their necessary supplies at retail, and sell their produce at wholesale. That said; No farmers, no food... and I, for one, like to eat.

Why are they not using the high speed option with the planter tractors? This would enable them to run up to 10 mph if the conditions are right.

We don’t have the right conditions in this area. Too many line stone rocks and rolling ground.

Tracked tractors look so much nicer on 120" spacing. It appears Billy has abandoned the 9R6XX wheeled tractors this year in favor of all 9RX machines?
@bigtractorpower6 ай бұрын

Wonder when a John Deere 710,770 or 830 will show up.Ironically JD can put 4 track 9RXs but cannot put out a 2 track tractor the size of the Fendt 1167.Deere made 2 track tractors for 19 years before a 9RX ever appearred.
@sew11946 ай бұрын
Not high speed planters? I'm surprised at how slow they go. Ivers Farms single 2150, 24 row Red planter I've seen go as fast as 12 mph, and it's singulation and overall stand of corn after they're done is unsurpassed.

Really? Row markers? No GPS?
@bigtractorpower6 ай бұрын
If you review this video at 17:30 you will find the 9R 440s are set up with full automation to the point they turn themselves around. They just run the row marker on the first boundary pass around the field to ensure they are staying on track on the second boundary pass with gps. Basically it’s an insurance policy to keep an eye on the path. The rest of field is done with out marker arms.
@brettengland1926 ай бұрын
That is a lot of expensive tractors.

The turning mechanism. Is all internal. Some farm machines are moving to joystick control and removing the steering wheel completely.

Why the tracked ones for anhydrous and wheeled for planting?
@bigtractorpower6 ай бұрын
Cost. The tracks are great for tillage. At some point the smaller 4wds will probably go to tracks but it has not happened yet.
@ArmpitStudios6 ай бұрын
@@bigtractorpower I still don’t understand why they can’t use the tracked ones for planting. Or do they already have that many tractors and just don’t want to put planting hours on then tracked ones? Seems like a lot of tractors when some could do both jobs.
