My favorite fruit...The Mango. I have learnt the best way, the best place and the best time to plant the very first tree in my food forest- a mango tree. It has been given a great start and is now ready to live for maybe 500 years. Thank you Geoff Lawton for giving the good explanations.
love and peace to everyone

NOTE: ALWAYS CHECK THE POUCH of a wallaby or kangaroo that has just been hit by a vehicle to see if there is a live baby inside so you can potentially save it´s life. I should have mentioned it in the video at 20:26.

One warning, if you bury meat, a scavenger may dig it up thus uprooting the tree - so I would recommend some wire fencing laying flat on the ground and affixed. My experience was burying a fish scraps in the soil for corn. Something dug them up (we have skunks, opossums, and raccoons are my guess, but could even be my dog).

So true 💕I feel like it’s a little spiritual moment too, watching the video in the morning, so elating. So gentle and kind 💕Stretches over the land and is much bigger than our bodies. I know that feeling too, this joy of new life (I greet my baby seedlings 🌱 with a silly a smile, a wave and a Hello 👋😇) But we have to wait here in North, still snow on the ground, meanwhile practice patience. So grateful for the videos, the good feeling it leaves in the heart🙏❤️ Ps I love the tip of sharp sand!

Interesting you say that because we live in the original old church here in the vslley, built in the early 1900’s and renovated into a home twenty years ago. But I don’t think that has much to do with my videos. I think it is the nature.

After about a week or so, the root made its way out of the shell and then I planted it. Could be I got lucky. My tree is about 2 feet tall now. 😊 I’m glad. Yes, you’re right… It’s beautiful. @@TheWeedyGarden I'm glad you met Geoff Lawton. I really hope you two will work together - that would be a principle of permaculture. The large animal carcass under the mango wasn't the best idea. The carcass will at first swell very much - and with it the earth will lift up, and then it will sink rapidly. I love your special videos and also Geoff Lawton's messages.
@kingkongprimpinella774

@@TheWeedyGarden Either you move the mango a little further from the carcass, which I would advocate, or you try to perforate the carcass with a sharp iron rod, which I personally would not do. Seedling mangos don't usually come true from seed, take much longer to fruit than grafted varieties, and usually have a sub-par taste with a lot of fiber (Geoff hits on this very well). Love your spot in Australia; truly a beautiful place. Great filming and photography too! Keep it up! I love mangos too; have over 40 varieties. And dry periods during flowering is good. The thing that will nuke your flowers is powdery mildew; it can attack your panicles/flowers and kill all of your mango flowers within days which means zero fruit for that year. Anthracnose usually forms as the fruit develops and leaves black streaks and spots on your fruit. Stem-end rot also forms as an attack on developing fruit. A good spraying of fungicide (natural or not), can significantly reduce these issues. Spray when the panicles emerge after 1 week, when the fruit is the size of a pea, size of an egg, and then every several weeks as needed.

Thank you for this content and, especially, it's really nice to see that there are so many likeminded people. If one looks for a particular connection, one will find it. Pardon my grammar, I am not native to English language. Anyhow, I found myself in a similar situation as you were when you were starting out. Finding my purpose was a brutal experience that I don't wish upon anyone and then realizing that IT was right in front of Me all along since I was a child, it was even more disappointing. IT felt disappointing because of all the lost years, and, listening to everyone else but myself, trying to fit in and be the best. Only now I've been given an opportunity to do exactly what I want to do, which is exactly what you are doing. Again, thank you! and I am grateful to "stumble" upon you and your friends.

Just saw from another video of yours that you must cover the seedling while it's young if it's not growing inside forest to give it less sunlight. Now I know why my mango also didn't grow. Thank you for the content creation, keep it going

Another brilliant production! You've inspired me to grow on my Balcony now. Absolutely possible. Reminds me of my father's pride and joy tree that my brother is now custodian of. Dad used to let the mango seed dry slightly before using it.

Your videos are lovely and really put the person in the place, eating a mango in a natural stream, ah some people would call us hippies and tree huggers and that's fine by me! Because to me, permaculture is the essence of the hippie life, back to the land, use everything, keep it simple and PEOPLE care. Aloha to you friend!

there's a small little indent around the mango seed husk and if you put a knife or a screwdriver in there and twist it will pop open easily :)

I peel my mangos. You've got a knife. Divide the mango into half by cutting into the skin and the flesh, starting at one point and coming back to it. Staying symetrical with the cuts, continue to divide, into quarters. Then peel back and eat....sitting in the bath or in your case, the swimming pool! Thankyou for this info. I always wanted to plant a mango seed. Now I am garenteed success watching your video.

I appreciate your videos and your passion. You have a great little environment around you and it is great to see. I imagine there are challenges with bugs and bitey things, but wow how lush. Such a great spot with running water near your hill with a view. Happy for you!
