I planted my cucumbers today also! Some Boston Pickling Cukes. Your beds and cages look great. I too, plant alot in them. Just picked my first sugar pea today! Plants are loaded with blossoms. Our new Greenhouse is almost finished. My tomatoes will grow in there. Not alot of heat here in the Pacific Northwest. Hope your garden fairs well in spite of too much rain. Happy Gardening!

Hey Donald, looking good I have planted the straight 8 cucumbers a lot. I like the straight neck squash better than the crook neck just seems easier when I slice them. My garden is doing very well so far just not getting any rain. Have to water just about every day My corn is tasseling and have a few green tomatoes. Should start picking squash and zucchini any day. Cantaloupes are coming along nice I have 22 hills.

I am in Slidell and planted my Dixondale Creole red onion plants in December, only 3 bolted oyt of 80.I think with the early planting and the warm winter that one of the cold snaps must have triggered dormancy then warm winter came and they thought they were in there second spring!

We haven't had any rain for awhile now. He waters them once a day. We sprinkled 10 10 10 then we tilled it in and watered it in for a few days then he planted peppers to the left. Cucumbers in the middle and the tomatoes to the right and he has 9 plants of tomatoes and nothing at all. Not even the little yellow flower that comes out first.

Thank you for another great video. My tomatoes are drowning! I'm not too far from you, north of Gulfport, Mississippi, and the rain has not stopped this year. Today, I put 6 tomato plants in self-watering buckets and placed them about 6 feet apart, hope this helps with the humidity and keep them from drowning. Everything else is doing okay with the rain, but any wind seems to cause the corn to want to lay over as the soil is really damp, any suggestions? God Bless and take care.
@webcajun9 жыл бұрын
Teresa H I’ve heard where some folks are actually staking and tying their corn up to keep it from being blown over, I’m not about to start doing that. It’s been my experience that it will straighten itself up after about a week…..Donald

I know in the fields one can use a roller to break up the clumps. Do you know of anything for the backyard gardener? My soil is fine but some folks have it really bad. My problem is the roots from our 160 yr old Walnut tree has found there way to my garden. Any ideas on handling that major issue, besides my moving the garden. I plant my Heirlooms 18" apart but I grow them as single stems and string them. I use to miss seeing problems/insects when the plants are packed. Stringing my cucumbers this year.
@webcajun9 жыл бұрын
David Dube With my soil, once I till the garden when it’s still too wet I have to just live with it till the clumps break down. As for your root problem moving the garden is the only thing I can think of…..Donald

@webcajun9 жыл бұрын
Charles Lynn Hey Chuck … The directions on both the Master Blend and Calcium Nitrate call for 1 tablespoon per each 3 gals. of water. If you’re going to add Epsom Salt then add 1/2 tablespoon of it per 3 gals. of water. Once mixed it says to apply approx. 1 quart to each plant. If you’re going to add this to plants that are growing close together like corn, peas, carrots, etc. then I would suggest (guessing) 1 quart every couple of feet…..Donald

@webcajun9 жыл бұрын
HECTOR MARRERO I could be wrong but the first thing that comes to mind is too much fertilizer, I would back off and wait, you may start seeing little tomatoes forming. If you’re getting lots of rain like most folks then that could also be a factor…..Donald

I wish my soil was that loose. Have enough clay it gets like concrete if not damp. You have nice loam soil. I can't say dirt as I was told dirt is what you sweep up or wash off. haha .I could mix in compost and additives "till the cows come home" and it hardly makes a dent in it. Our soil is more alkaline in Colorado.
