As a fairly new gardener I have a gardening question. The raised bed mix is so nice and rich in those inner spaces. Love this! I sent a message to Aaron today about how Bunny Guinness does bottomless pots. I think large bottomless pots in the center of the four quadrants with Dappled Willow trees in each pot would look spectacular! Then you get your willows but on a smaller scale but still raised up enough to plant annuals in the pot and the ground below. 😁What do you think?

@@kareharpies I said “I teared up”, which means tears welled up in my eyes. I did not fully cry. No tears came down my face. I know the joy that hard work brings and I have watched Laura & Aaron work extremely hard to achieve their goals and have watched how their property has developed with their talents. In addition, seeing what they have done with the flora that God has created makes me worship Him all the more and appreciate what He has given to us. It is not unusual for me to feel overwhelmed by God’s beauty in a natural setting or in a planned space as it’s HIS creation that makes it equally beautiful. And we people are each perfectly and uniquely made. Some are more emotional than others. It’s all good‼️

So, did she misspeak while naming the boxwood, or did she really plant Green Velvet, thinking they were quite small?
@wendyblair7654
@wendyblair7654 Жыл бұрын
Are you sure those are Green Velvet boxwoods and not Green Gem boxwoods? I ask because I have both. I have had great luck with the Green Velvets. They stay green all winter long (no bronzing) in my zone 7b climate. But they are closer to 4’ tall and wide. This year I purchased the Green Gem because I needed a smaller, tighter structure. Those are supposed to only get 2’ tall and wide. I know it’s splitting hairs, however when you’re working with such a formal structure, it can make a difference. Both varieties are supposed to keep more of a rounded habit - and I have found that to be true with the GV. No matter the variety, your hedges are sure to be beautiful!

My circle has a fire pit in the middle, and lots of DA Roses in the middle of the boxwoods. Love it! It is going to be gorgeous. And I did get my boxwood obsession from you. LOL! I have videos on mine. My channel name is "BACKYARD BLOOMS WITH KIM". And I bought all by boxwoods from Jenny "CREEKSIDE NURSERY" even before she started doing KZbin. I pulled up and told her if she could get me 80 sprinter boxwoods, because I have been watching your channel for so long. I definitely had to have that type. She did, she delivered them all to me. We had those boxwoods, and they grew to over 4ft. We took them out because too large for what we were going for. I've learned after 30 years of gardening that most times shrubs always grow larger then the tag says, at least for me anyway. Good luck with them.

I always want to plant cottage gardens, but something about the formal simple look is so peaceful! I love how it's coming together! Perfect 🥰

Love ALL of your videos. I'm in a suburb of Houston, Zone 9B and we have been obliterated with boxwood blight. I have replaced over 200 that formed a hedge bordering my formal gardens and am still replacing weekly as more die. Hope the blight doesn't make it to your area. I have ripped them out and replanted for the new stock (diseased from the nursery) to still die. I'm forced to consider dwarf yaupon holly as a substitute, but as we all know...there is nothing that is as beautiful as a formal boxwood hedge border as you are planting here. Good luck! Any advice is appreciated.
