Hi Stephanie, I had a glass fronted fire in Northern Ireland before we emigrated. The people who installed it taught me a trick on how to clean the glass easily. Simply take a wad of damp newspaper, dip it into the ashes in the ash pan and rub it over the glass, it takes off all the blackness immediately. Now, 33 years later our next door neighbour put in a log burner like yours and he said he hated that it was so hard to clean, I told him the trick and he is now spreading the word to everyone, he can't believe how easy it is! Try it, your glass will shine and it is so easy to do. The Chateau looks amazing, been watching you all from the start of Covid, Happy Christmas and love to you all from Melbourne, Australia, xxx Doreen

Such a beautiful room that looks wonderful "more Christmassy!" 😉 Another way to add more Christmas to a room is to use wrapping paper on existing artwork. Just lightly secure gift wrap on the back side of the frame, unroll the gift wrap across the front of the artwork and lightly secure on the back of the frame on the other side with washi or painter's tape. Leave it as is or add a bow and/or ribbon and it looks great! Wrapping one side of a cardboard panel and hanging it front side outward on a wall is a great trick, plus it's inexpensive and a good way to recycle/reuse. You can do the same outdoors if you use heavy foil gift wrap - as it will hold up in wet weather, and it's adorable when using small cardboard sections or boxes as little presents attached to a door garland or along the sides of outdoor steps. Just add a a few rocks, or a bag of dirt to the inside of the faux presents if wind may be an issue to keep them from blowing away.

As a Southerner (NC) I had to look up to see just what Southern U.S. tree that was, it seems to be a Virginia Tulip Tree - Liriodendron tulipifera. They're one of the tallest American hardwood trees. They grow to 100 ft. I was reading there used to be old woodland specimens up to 200 ft. It does have the pretty light green and orange "tulips". I read where they were prized for their wood for cabinets and even musical instruments, however, they don't grow quick enough to be commercially grown. I see on the Versailes website they're actively promoting the "Revival of the Queen's Grove" which would bring the trees back to their garden. These are beautiful trees. Just one note to consdier, they are considered fairly messy trees especially when the petals drop, and they do drop a sticky sap, so don't plant where you'd be parking cars around/under. Also, the branches are prone to come down in a windstorm so don't plant where they might cause damage if a branch falls. They can be stunning int he fall with a soft golden yellow display.

He said "He was very warm outside except for his nose" So exciting to see the little tree being dug up to go to La Lande and with such a great history! Stephanie looks lovely with the fur around neck with her coat and the red earrings they set it off and it does put the light on Christmas coming. Love Davey and his deep ability to truly think through what he wants, and he is all business. When he is spoken to you can just see he is very careful with each answer he gives. Very deep thinker. It will be wonderful to have more heat for kitchen and it would make really great sense as it seems to be the gathering place for most and they are either busy working or eating or just visiting even. So, it would be nice to have it warm there. Jared is such a nice young man. He has his legacy in this home and wants to remain part of it all. He is a welcome part of the life here at Lalande.
