Me too!! Not very many people prefer cool weather, but I just suffer terribly from end of May - Aug., into Sept. here in west TN, zone 8a.

​I am not good when it gets to heat but like her I keep my hair down when garden I use it like a hat. It shades the back of my neck ears most of my face and shoulders and makes me less likely to burn in the sun. I hate feeling the sun beating down on my neck makes me feel like I'm going to collapse. Also she has curly hair like I do (she straighten it) and it brakes our hair having it up to often.

Now, if I had tackled that buried concrete, I would have finished the planting and felt so successful until I walked around to the other side of the house and realized the pipe actually did go to something long forgotten which is now gushing water. Love the Pyromania!

I had to laugh at the concrete! I'm always so envious of you just digging and planting while we always have to use a power chisel to even plant things as small as 4" containers! We live in rock country so be glad you only have an occasional problem! We plant almost nothing here because it is just too difficult! Sad...but true.

I've had this same problem with random bricks many inches below the dirt. The biggest surprise was a large and very thick piece of plastic (almost like an inflatable tire), in a spot I wanted to plant a cool shrub. Needless to say the hole was filled back in and the plant went to my friend's home. :)

Me, a beginning gardener: gingerly transplants flower while measuring hole and mulch to exact specifications. Concocting soil mixtures like a mad scientist caked in mud. Plant: drops leaves if I don't whisper to it during a full moon. GA: Yanks, bangs, tugs, rips, and tosses plant into a concrete hole. Plant: *thrives*

I loved this video. It made me laugh. I was digging a whole, removing several rocks and my last push with the shovel broke the pipe to our sprinkler system. ☹️ My husband laughed, and couldn't wait to find the camera video as the water sprayed all over me. ☺️

I think this video was just the encouragement I needed. I’m creating a new flower bed along my driveway which slopes down a gentle hill to a wooded area. It seems to me the builders tossed all random rocks, chunks of concrete, and weird pieces of metal I can’t identify on the slope thinking it would never be developed and covered it all with sod. 27 years ago. Every hole for every plant has met with challenges similar to this and it’s nice to know I’m not the only one who deals with it. And I am determined too. 😉

It's so hard by me too with all the rocks, etc. hidden under the soil. My land was a road at one time and you name it and it's probably under the soil in my yard - sigh. I even found a broken up window when I was trying to plant something. It's like a treasure hunt without the gold.

We live on rocks. Every single time we make a new bed, we can guarantee to pull 20x18”+ rocks. We say the same thing that the plants better grow grow grow from all the blood and sweat it takes to make them a happy home. ❤️

I planted 5 of these at the end of May here in Southern Ohio, and the rabbits ate them to the ground... I also live in an extreme remote area.. They also ate every single Rudbeckia plant in my flower beds.. They did not bother my Rockin Blue Suede Shoes Salvia plants..

Love your videos, I’ve noticed you’ve mentioned pollinators a few time, however I’ve never heard you mention ants as a pollinator, and they are right up there with the bees when it comes to how beneficial they are to both the vegetable and flower gardens, plus the bring aeration to the soil too. My son is doing his PhD on ants. Ants have such a bad rap in our society it’s nice for people to hear how beneficial they really are.

Went out and bought this plant for my garden. Excited to hear it is bunny resistant. Having a battle with them this year chewing stalks on my butterfly weed and leaving the stalks on the ground. Have tried spraying with garlic water to deter them. Not having much luck obviously. LoL. Any suggestions other than putting up a barrier. This garden is a focal point from our patio. I love kniphofia, especially the one Aaron planted in one of his containers. I wonder where they'll pop that into the landscape once the containers need to be cleaned out. I'm thinking anywhere they have a deep purple perennial (like some salvia) since orange and purple (with green foliage) form a complementary tri-color trio.

I love all the plants you are introducing us to! I have seen them before but never knew the names or their growing habits etc. Love these and I think they would work in our zone near Tacoma. I love as well day lilies, and their plentiful blooms and lush green bushy grass look. Thank you for what you do, I love watching your vlogs and learn so much. Question? If I planted Lilacs which don't keep blooms all that long what could I plant at the base of them or next to them that would do well as a ground plant? It would be a full sun exposure. I would love any ideas! Blessings
