In this video we are preparing a portion of border ready for new planting. We want to continue the same kind of planting that the other side of this border has so we have chosen some great plants that we just know will be the perfect additions.
We had already divided a pot bound clump of crocosima which can be viewed at • Dividing Crocosmia (Mo... and this planted in this border along with Kniphofia 'Redhot Popsicle' and Stipa tenuissima.
We also show you how to divide Kniphofia (Red Hot Pokers) in this video too.

I have had Red Hot Pokers for over 20 years, but never tried to separate it, so now I know how.. Thank you for your help.😎

You are welcome. I'm so glad that we have been able to help 😎. They are fascinating plants that have so much to offer a garden. Give separating them a try and see how you get on. Thank you so much for watching and for your great comment 😀 😊

Hi Paul and Andrew, That's going to look stunning isn't it? I am like you and like my borders filled to the brim so that there's no bare soil. It cuts down on weeding (although that's not a chore for me) and frees up my time to do other jobs around the garden. That's such a good idea about splitting new plants from the garden centre. I've never thought to do that. I saw your video about the Chinese Lantern plant and remembered that I've got some seeds which came free from a gardening magazine so I'll dig them out and see when I can sow them. I often wonder how KZbin works as I'm sure that there's a lot of people who don't get to see your videos and I'm sure that they would like them as much as I do as they are so informative and you have a garden like most of the population and isn't unattainable like some other people who vlog.. You only appeared a few weeks ago on my lap top yet you've been going for a few years now and I am very happy to give you my support and just wish I'd found you sooner. All the best. Wendy.

Aw, thank you so much Wendy. That means a lot to us. We started with gardening videos on KZbin a few years back during lock down, but then moved to an apartment in Manchester and so only started again on our return to Warrington, in our new garden. We love it, but wish we has shared when we were much younger in our Sheffield cottage garden. We love our gardening. It has been our escape since childhood. Dividing plants is such an amazing way to create new plants for free. It's such an amazing thing to do and very rewarding. Paul was after his Chinese Lantern for such a long time and so he finally got it. Great idea Wendy about using your seeds to grow your own plants. They will be so lovely. We love full borders with no bare soil. The garden in Sheffield was certainly a testament to this :-) Thank you for your continued support Wendy. Today has been so bright but cold. We have had our cat son Ben the Bengal to the animal hospital in Manchester today. We have had to leave him there as he has stopped eating. He has something attached to his stomach that should not be there and so it's been a tough day for him, and for us as his Dad's. He is our world. Thanks again Wendy for watching. Some amazing videos coming up. Andrew and Paul.

@@MadAboutGardening I seem to have lost my message that I sent earlier (me and technology!) but I wanted to say how sorry I am to hear about poor Ben. How awful for you but he is in the right hands and I hope he gets better and can come home soon. Try and be strong but I know that will be hard as you both love him so much. Thinking of you.

@@wendybartlett6717 aw, thank you so much with all our hearts for your loving words about Ben. We went to the animal hospital to see him last night and he was so desperately depressed. Paul mamaged to get him to eat a bowl of Tuna cat food and he loved us and we held him. It was like a rugby scrum with his little head trying so desperately to cuddle with Paul and I. We have believe that things are wonderful for Benny and that he will be coming home as soon as they believe he is ready. We are still not one hundred percent sure on what's going on with him, apart from one kidney being larger than the other and cloudy urine, which could very well be an infection. Ultrasound of his stomach has twice now showed no mass, the first one did and so that's fantastic news. Everything else seems to be okay, some raised white cells. They are taking good care of Benny and so we are thankful to them. We just want him home🏡 Thank you so much Wendy. Andrew and Paul

@@MadAboutGardening I'm sure that both of you were a tonic for Ben when he saw you last night as he must be wondering what's going on being in unfamiliar surroundings. Great to hear that there's no mass showing on his latest ultrasounds and that must be such a relief for you. Urinary tract infections can make you feel awful so if that's what Ben's got I'm sure that the vets can soon get on top of it and before you know it Ben will be back home for lots of cuddles. I can understand how worried you are but it looks like things are moving in the right direction and he is being well looked after. Take care.

@@wendybartlett6717 Thanks Wendy. Your good wishes are much appreciated. Ben is our world 🌎 He was still very depressed last night, I'd say much worse than the night before. He needs to come home today, which is the plan according to the vet yesterday and so this evening we will be collecting our Benny 🐈 I can feel his pain and know he longs in his heart for his home 🏡 with us 💙. His sadness has been overwhelmingly apparent and now he has finished his last antibiotic during the night and feed its time to come home. They have not told us the lab results yet, but if it was a UTI the antibiotics will have worked. Still unsure about the kidney significance, but they will clarify. They are great where he is. Thank you for your kindness Wendy and for watching our videos. Andrew and Paul 🙂🤓

Why is it when I Google Steve Attenuous, Achilles and Afelthia plants nothing comes up in the search.

Hi Derek, the spelling is incorrect for these plants on the subtitles, try Achillea and Kniphofia.

I wasn't even interested in red hot pokers but your voice is so nice to listen to. Kind of wasted on gardening videos! So many literature and history videos are ruined by awful voices.
