I don’t have a home or garden any more, but I learned to garden in containers watching Laura create beautiful displays no matter what the space entails. I had such a fun dream last night, that I was traveling and at a stop along the way, Laura was sitting out on the patio of this old hotel with Russell, and I got so excited and went over to introduce myself and ask how her gardens were going and then share the plans I had for enlarging my raised bed garden and the greenhouse/shed that my husband was sketching up to build in our backyard, and she was giving me ideas of things to try. To top it all off, Russell sat next to me and let me scratch his head. 😆 Thank you for your wonderful videos, and also all the helpful information you share.

Slice radishes into REALLY thin half moons, soak in lime juice, salt and pepper. Do this at the beginning of cooking dinner and leave in the fridge. Use as a garnish. Great on top of salads, tacos, quesadillas, etc. Very fresh and cooling as a garnish for warmer or richer dishes. Goes excellent next to creme fraîche or crema when that is uses as a sauce, too!

And so it begins! So exciting, Laura. You’ll be surprised at how different radishes taste when cooked. Stir frying is good as well. The long ones are especially easy to prep. I cut them lengthwise in four pieces(or matchstick them). I also cook the stems and greens…..two stir fry vegetables from one plant. I use them in omelet muffins that I make for a quick breakfast along with mushrooms, cheese and other veggies, too. Loaded with nutrients. Not fond of them raw either.

I'm fascinated with plant dyes and I thought of Laura's gardens as I was watching "SWW Film Series: A Shetland Dye Garden - with Bunchy Casey". She explains what she grows in her gardens to make her dyes. Plants like Woad, Black Hollyhock, Chamomile, Madder, Safflower, Weld, Marigold, Indigo, Calendula and Coreopsis can be made into dyes, to name just a few. Also Sagebrush, red and brown onion skin, Juniper and Rose Hips are gardeners' dye gold. Deadheading and Fall clean-up could yield a virtual rainbow of dyes!

I guarantee that corner that you can’t figure out why it always seems slower is due to a certain orange, six toed critter sunning himself on top of it! 🤣😂😽 Love both Russell and Cheddar!

When the leeks mature, clean, slice, saute in butter, add heavy cream and lemon juice, S&P. Goes with everything. Yum time.

This is my absolute favorite part of your garden, Laura! I’ve had dreams of reproducing it in my own space, but alas, there’s not enough room. Thank you for letting us live and dream with you in your beautiful garden. I’m not sure if you can really fathom how much peace, happiness, beauty, and inspiration that you impart to us all. Thank you! You and Aaron, as well as your entire family bring down much joy to our world.🌱
Мы никогда не были так напуганы!
