Nervous to chop your monstera!? Here’s where to cut! Roots will also start to grow out from the node which typically can take 6-8 weeks, but HAVE PATIENCE. If it’s not dying, it’s still working! Side note: for tropical houseplants, you do NOT have to let it sit and callous but I let this one sit for a few hours and then plopped into water. For cactus and succulents, its a must for me to let callous after propagation for rot prevention. Any other questions, leave them down below and follow along for more planty care along the way.

Air roots.... you can loosely wrap something like bearded moss around and in no time with misting the spanish moss will roots formfast.

Ok this is exactly what I was looking for! But is that the “top” of the plant-where the new growth is coming from? Mine also just has one stem, is getting too tall but I’m skerrrred 😬 Love your videos Krystal, thanks so much!

@nickzalucha218Ай бұрын
They can take hell,and if looking leggy or are becoming hard to manage,do some thinning and simply root the cuttings and multiply. You can enhance the success of your cutting wrap a loose portion of spanish moss around where you wish to cut and you will have air roots thriving... Mine have some air roots that are over a foot long on my mini monsteria, i use them to wrap around surrounding branches and to trellising-i use no fasteners.

For albos be careful with the variegation in the stem of the cuttings. If the stem is completely green it might not have any variegation while if the stem is mostly white the cutting won’t survive. Lookb for a good in-between

I'm not a thief but I always feel like stealing those plants of yours 😅. But it'll surely cost me a hefty amount to bring them to India. I love your videos, lots of love and respect from India❤
@osmium3691Ай бұрын
Small correction, you will not get a bushier plant from chopping a monstera. Certain plants like monsteras only grow one vine at a time, so only one of those axillary buds will begin growing a new shoot . If you want a bushier plant you can make multiple propagations and plant more than one vine in a pot.

You can cut them anywhere, even into small sections cut the leaves off it whatever you want to root in water. Plant them , and you can forget to water them and they just keep on going. I have one that is 30 Years old I’ve chopped given away etc and it’s huge. Dunno why everyone calls it a monstra or whatever, maybe because it’s a monster lol, it’s a split leaf philodendron. Very hard to kill.

What do we do to make it bushier? You mentioned that if we cut into the growth nodes, it will bring more oxygen and the growth point will work.. how exactly we should cut it?

QUESTIONS! If I use rooting hormone, does it go on the cut area, aerial root, or both? I've never used it before. Also, I recently chopped up my whole monstera, and all parts are in water. Is it ok to have them crammed into one container of water or do they need space to root? My aerial roots were ridiculously long 😂 and I had to cut them down. Would they grow new roots if I cut it off entirely? This reminds me to check it today.

Miss,i am a fan!!!!! I was just attending my mini monsteria that is trellis on bamboo and about 4'×2' and leaves from base to top looking nice...needs repoting before i bring indoors before November....Anyway would you like a food grade,high carbon stainless steel blade from the industries for cutting vegetables? These blades are polished and are RAZOR, shave your legs RAZOR sharp. I notch handle in am elegant manner and have a satisfying ability to slice so smoothly there is little to none tissue disruption,leaving very little stressing of cut. It allows a quick and unfestered cut that will root/heal fast. Private message for inquiries diferent dimensions and shaping can be considered. It is solid s.s. in length,making no area to rust,rot,or tarnish. Easy to sanitize. Only thing is they are so sharp they are dangerous. Ohh the side i fashion the end the hand portion is determine right handed use or left handed use (the bevel direction determines this as bevel side pushes out and straight edge cuts down. Thick and heavy duty. Also fellow plant lovers of interest IM me if you wish to see my creation potental and how it coukd be adapted to your plant/culinary use.

Where the leaves pop out
@amberfrazier575Ай бұрын
@@justscrolling1323where the stem comes from the vine will always have a node. The node is the ring around the vine . That is where all growth comes from and it’s best to have a full node with plenty of vine on each side to propagate. So most people cut directly center between each node or ring around the vine. I’d recommend a face book group for monsteras. Lots of very experienced people there to answer questions.
