I want to learn how to propagate a Parlor Palm. I have had one since I moved out of my parents home when I was 19. I am now about to turn 60. I want to Make more from it to make it more full than it is

Tough one. Palms are propagated by seeds and tissue culture so I don't thing you can do it with cuttings. If you want to make it more 'full', you'll likely need to give it more light and nutrition - or you can get a nice, new, full one from us?!

Mine came in self watering pot. Is it wise to keep in this pot? I do let top dry before adding more water. Is water misting helpful? I ask because a few tips get a little brown. Thanks to anyone who responds.

Ang L keep it misted, they love humidity - & the pot is probably fine so long as it’s not sat in water, I find they don’t need much

You can also try placing your plant in the bathroom and as you shower or bathe the humidity will do its thing on your plant. I have two baby parlors and just started moving them every other day into the bathroom for like an hour and put them back near my living room window for them to get some sun, they seem really happy so far.

Hope I'm not too late, but please check out of watering guide. Sounds like you're giving it too much H2O. www.plantz.com/blog/plantz-guide-watering-for-success/

@@latoyajames748 your medium needs to e properly mixed, sounds like there is lack of oxygen for the roots. mix 70% Cococoir and 30% potting soil, mix very well, and you will have a happy Parlor Palm.

Try to let it dry out a bit more between watering. Also I've heard that palms are very sensitive to tap water, so make sure you don't water it straight from the tap.

Not sure where he gets the maximum height from but the one i had as child got to 5 feet and thats not including the pot. This has to be my favorite house plant because of the one i had as a child u grew up with it. Every year on my birthday it had the same number of leaves as my age. It never missed a single birthday. My great aunt gave me the palm on my third birthday. It was a single little palm with 3 fronds and it slowly grew until i moved out and mom let spider mites suck the life outta it bout 20 years later.

DO NOT use “sticks to check your soil, that will damage the roots, even if you insert on the edges. use your finger 2inches will let you know if it needs watering or not.

False.

Disagree. The soil probe is absolutely the best method for checking and understanding soil moisture. Best of luck.
