A friend of mine in the 80's had a 1978 Aspen R/T with a 4 speed. I had a 69 Grand Prix. This kit reminded me of that car and of those times!! Thanks, the model looks great!!

Wheel Flares We're For the 78 Kit Car/Petty Coupe which has #43 Decals and 2 toned Paint. They were not used on other Volares or Aspens

When the 76 Volare kit came out, I had that one myself, they had those plastic tires instead of the vinyl ones, that was crazy IMO, but as long as one collects the Goodyear tires, you can pitch those, the one item of interest is that the kit had a vinyl roof section that you could cover the backside windows, or if you're skilled, you could cut the side window area, & make it look like a landau roof just like the real car!!!

I’ll bet more of the real cars had vinyl roofs than not. Seems like EVERY car had them back then.

Yes, friend, MANY t-tops were metal painted body color & you couldn't see through them unless they were open. These are body color in the l98o Dodge Aspen brochure. Sunroofs are glass, t-tops were metal.

I have to say; I’ve never seen that type personally. Seems counterintuitive to me. Lol.
@jennifercole2815 жыл бұрын
@@Kryptosmaster Not so counterintuitive under the hot Texas sun.😉 you're thinking of sunroofs. I'm sure if you research any late 70's Corvettes or Camaros online you'll be able to find images of body colored t-tops. We had a '78 Corvette with the black & silver Indy Pace Car package and it had body colored fiberglass opaque t-tops. Thanks for your videos, they are a joy to watch!

I would buy it just because it’s the last Roadrunner that Plymouth made, the only one made in the 80s, AND it’s the only one that I’m virtually old enough to remember. This was a vehicle from my early childhood, been hooked on it for decades now. I’m actually pleased with your work, not bad at all!😎😊

I think you did a great job with what the kit had to offer. I did the same kit 2 years ago, and it took quite a bit to get it done to my liking. In the end, since I bought two kits, the next one will be a junker. Overall, despite your setbacks, it turned out a nice looking shelf model at the very least.

Richard, you pulled it back to life. And to me I would be really please if I built her. Happy moderling.

They make model spray paint for a reason. Whoever told you to use anything else is a fool. I have been building for 45 years. Stay away from Krylon, Rustolem, and any other Wallmart crap.

This is the Old MPC Annual kit from 1980. MPC was hated for the molded 1 piece chassis I personally built only AMT 3 in 1 unless they were kits gifted to me You'd need to Google 1980 Plymouth Volare Dealer brochures for images to come up in images Section The Clubs on Facebook for Aspen's/Volares would have given you the info I have Developed a Technical for doing away with moulded in Chrome lights by molding detail n using clear Epoxy I'm considering making parts enhancent kits for this issue on headlights & Taillights

Rick Beam I did look up the 1980 brochures but very little in them. I didn’t think about Facebook groups. I’ll have to utilize those in the future.

You're not alone in that frustration with those stupid t-tops on this kit, getting those things to actually fit took a good two hours worth of sanding if I remember correctly. Getting the bumpers along with those windows louvers to fit was incredibly annoying. Honestly this kit seems to be about as bad as MPC's '69 charger with how terrible fitment is. What's even more annoying with this kit is how MPC made a '78 version of it years ago which I would say looked arguably better and actually had factory decals with it.
@Kryptosmaster3 жыл бұрын
I think this kit was a reuse of that 78 kit with model year parts changes.
@rickbeam23256 жыл бұрын
Richard the 1980 Roadrunner Version was very low production too only 479 made. Yes less than 500 made. It was Same for R/T. Nearly Identical car from this kit I'll be Referencing the Hot Rod Article of the Last R/T to Roll off the Hammtramck plant the 76-79 Volare & Aspen's are way more popular everyone is hoping to see the brought back
