Thank you Dr. I'm 50 and going through perimenopause. People have 'the talk' to you when you get your first period, talking about how 'your becoming a woman'' and what changes are going to happen and what it means. But nobody sits down and has a talk to you about when your period stops and what's going to happen and what it means 😞

I’ve tried having The Talk with women about menopause. Nobody wants to hear HRT. Wylie Protocol. Bio identical hormones. Suzanne Somers The Sexy Years. I’m 68 still have a cycle. I began the Wylie Protocol at 48. I never technically went through any of this. I still have beautiful skin. My sister couldn’t be bothered and chose to age “gracefully” she looks like she could be my mother and she’s younger. She’s wrinkled and fat. I’m 5’4 106. There is nothing topical you can do except for possibly Retin A, that’s going to negate the effects of menopause. Get on HRT. Do NOT go to your regular gynecologist for this! Find a doctor who specializes in what I’ve mentioned above

Oh wow that's well said and how true. It's very rarely menopause is talked about. It's like the taboo subject of our generation . Shame actually

I never thought about it before but your so right. I worked at a store a few years back and I was going through menopause at the time ,I used to go inside the cooler and take my shirt off ,hot flashes ,I stopped when I found out they had cameras in there lol .When a couple of the ladies older than me came in ,Ud talk to them about it but not the way U might think. I'd ask them what did they do when they were going through menopause and at least 3 told me "Got divorced" I wasn't very hopeful I'd survive it after that .

Three years ago everything changed in my life and intensified on my 46th birthday. After talking to my doctor she realized I had severe peri menopausal symptoms. The worse was brain fog, itchy skin, weight gain, depression and anxiety… just to name a few. 6 wks ago, I did my bloodwork and my gyno prescribed the estrogen/progesterone patch. This has been God sent. I have been sleeping better. No more itching, I have more energy. I have not have anxiety or felt depressed in a month. The patch for me has been a miracle!!!!

Thank you for addressing this. I’ve just started with a Master Esthetician because I don’t know what to do with my skin! I use Elf Holy Hydration. I really can’t afford pharmaceutical grade skin care… yet. I’ve been on HRT for about two years and I’m still trying to figure it out. Acne, hyperpigmentation, HAIR! I promised I wouldn’t pluck until I see her at the end of the month. My skin looks pretty good with a few wrinkles around my eyes and mouth. She’s going to start with a derma-plane and facials before we look at anything else. I would like to turn my mouth corners. I always look grumpy.

Thanks you Doctor Youn - this content is so helpful for an audience that could use age/condition specific tips. I feel so fortunate that menopause has not been difficult at all for me, but am seeing crepe-y skin on my forearms, shins, hands and feet. I need to do better with application of body moisturizer after shower and appreciate the tips you've provided and product suggestions as well. Now that I'm completely through 'the gauntlet' lol - I'm noticing my face and neck are more sensitive to my actives; primarily vitamin C, but also some sensitivity to my retinol. I'll say it again - thanks for the informative content - I understand a bit better the 'why' behind these changes. Cheers-x

Since I had a hysterectomy a few years before, the only way I found I had gone through the change is by a routine blood work that my doctor had done once a year when I had my prescription renewed, I never had any other symptoms that goes along with menopause either such as hot flashes, night sweats or mood swings.

I'm early 30's, menopausal due to stage 4 endometriosis, had a full hysterectomylast spring. My hormones have wrecked havoc on my skin. Breakouts all over my face, neck, scalp, chest, back, and lower back. Salicylic acid no longer is working, I'm horribly allergic to benzoyl peroxide. My acne is inflamed and cystic. They need to be extracted as they pop out as small pearls and/or grains of rice leaving deep holes in my skin. I do not know what to do, everything my dermatologist has tried either doesn't work, I cannot take the medications because they interact with my life saving medications, or I'll see results briefly, and after using for 6+ weeks; I am back at square one. I am at the point where I don't want to leave the house. I cannot wear any makeup as it causes a flare-up. Any help or suggestions are very much appreciated 🙏
