I'm South African, and when women have babies, our grandmothers and mothers take care of the new moms. They cook, clean, take care of the baby, and let the mom rest. They're there for a minimum of 3 to 6 months. Moms just feed the baby, eat, sleep, and repeat! 😂 My postpartum diet (which my granny or mom made) were WARM meals every single day, multiple times. Rooibos tea, ginger drinks, plenty of water for milk production. I got my belly massaged (even during pregnancy) every day. My mom got me tights that covered my belly TIGHTLY, which was a substitute for the wrapping😂 During my pregnancy, especially in winter, I ALWAYS wrapped a fleece blanket around my waist. Women need community, and it's so unfortunate that some don't. It's heartbreaking!!b

Para los Latinos it's "La Cuarentena" ... For 40 days after labor, someone, elder female, moves into your home to take care of you. ❤❤❤❤❤

I’m haitian and after giving birth to both of my babies my mom, aunts and sister definitely came and helped with feeding cleaning and caring for both the babies and I.

I wish I had a village with my children while they were growing up & still. They are all grown men now. But I’ve never had a village. I still don’t. I wish I knew more back when, but I’m grateful for learning things now. Maybe I can help someone, bc no one helped me.

"La Cuarentena" for Latinos is "Omugwu" for Nigerians but the igbo tribe is where that word originates from. I don't think there's a specific number of days to it tho. But truth is some women don't have that kinda help all over the world and that's sad 😢

yes I am a labor and delivery nurse and an epidural does contain fentanyl / hydromorphone and a numbing agent( novocain) to help with pain and numbing. This is a combination of narcotics and a local anesthetic. They should never give fentanyl after you are 7 cm at my hospital or you will dilate so fast and your baby will fly out. It takes awhile for babies to wake up but I am so sorry that happened to you. A nurse should always check you before giving you ANY MEDICATION MAMAS. Please have your partner advocate for you in the hospital.

Doctors choose money over integrity. They make you sign some kind of waiver to “cover themselves” and that’s that!

My 3 pregnancies were fairly easy thankfully & prayerfully. My first son was the longest pregnancy. I got meds in my iv I would NEVER do an epidural. My 2nd & 3rd I name total natural no meds. Labour at home. Got to the hospital was ready to push & did. I wish I had had a time early afternoon 3rd child but i never did ands i feel too old attempt it now. I’m only 52. I’m just scared of it.
