1. Your cooker is not airtight. You had oxygen getting in and messing up the reaction. You should't have used copper fittings, they are leaky. 2."The PET plastic was just gassing and not condensing, this makes PET plastic a bad candidate" dude you did not have more room for condensation to take place, should have had a longer looping pipe that came out fro the boiler. it is not bio-diesel please!! 3. PET is not the mistake, your process is the flaw. If you had an airtight boiler oxygen would'd have reacted with your plastic as it was melting. The gases you got did not have more time and roof for condensation and surely reacted with the air in the atmosphere. This is dope though keep doing it. Use LPG container that is airtight and use piping system that is 100% airtight as well. Good Luck!
@Termiic3 жыл бұрын
The problem with PET and why it won't work is simple - molecule contains oxygen atoms, creating oxidation reactions. However, PET burns cleanly in presence of enough oxygen, so use them in that stove.

It is not condensing because it reacts with the oxygen in the system and it becomes all kinds of really bad stuff. The gas must be free of oxygen till it gets to its condensation temperature then it will be stable as fuel. Use ice in your condenser! Make sure the coil is able to drain if any liquid gest stuck it can cause significant back pressure.

The solution to the problem of oxygen in HDPE is very simple. 1. Take a container of the desired size relative to the amount of plastic you have. 2. Slightly below its upper lip connect a hose leading to a storage container. 3. Fill half the tank with oil. 4. Pour shredded plastic into the oil tank. 5. Heat the oil to the temperature inside which the plastic melts. 6. As the process continues you will receive liquid / fuel [almost] oil. 7. Good luck.

Fuels... I don't understand where the interest is If you consider the gazs emission climat problem... This is really not a good solution
@bryannoyce3 жыл бұрын
Most plastic recycling requires the plastics be separated before reuse. This process is often done by hand, it is expensive, and may have health risks for the plastic sorters. The interest in fuel is that the plastics may not need to be sorted. Also, if the plastic is used in the standard industrial supply chain, it will have to be shipped from the place that the plastic waste was generated to a recycling facility, in some cases it would make more sense to just use it as fuel locally. Imagine an extreme case, an island far out in the ocean, fuel is very expensive due to shipping costs, and all the benefit of recycling the plastic would be lost to shipping. There are many places in the world where it would be far more profitable and environmentally friendly just to turn the waste plastic into fuel and burn it locally. Also, wood is "carbon neutral" and is usually available locally, so it requires little shipping.
