I’ve just discovered your videos and have been having so much fun watching them! Love the pure enjoyment you get out of it vs some of the stuffy channels out there. Ps, you’ve also convinced me to buy this big juicy nib. Like right now!!

What a cool nib! And the shading! Very good pairing of ink and nib, like they're made for each other 👍

I have heard of Double Broad nibs but didn't know that they were also called coarse nibs. Thanks for that.

So freaking pretty! I have the same pen (color and nib). It is one of my most favorite for writing notes. Good paper can totally handle that nib. Being a large writer (no serial killer writing here), this pen is wonderful. It's similar to a Stub 1.1 without the structure. It's fun! I just inked mine with Diamine Red Luster...wow! So pretty! Thank you...stay safe and healthy!

P.S. The coarse nib is a HUGE jump from the Platinum broad...like really, really HUGE. The broad is more like a subdued medium. The coarse is like a triple broad in comparison. I love both the broad and coarse nibs. I love the rigidity of them and the lines they provide. Excellent pens.

I have the black #3776 but this color looks great. Very elegant. Also, I love your enthusiasm. Thank you for your review.

I love your videos. As a fellow broad lover, I love seeing your beautiful handwriting with a FAT line. ❤

I love the coarse nib! I tried one in a store and I knew I had to have one. One of my favourite nibs on one of my favourite pens.

You can get them round, you can get them chonky; but only Pilot and Platinum make them round and chonky at the same time. Gotta love the coarse nibs. The 3776 coarse used to sell for $70 on Amazon a couple years ago. Idiotically cheap gold nib, perfect for custom grinds.

The reason it sold so cheap was because they were sold by Japanese dealers who didn't give a damn about international rights or law. While legitimate dealers were paying all sorts of fees in order to sell these pens legitimately, those dealers, and the lowlifes who bought from them, were screwing every honest dealer and consumer out there.

I was torn between a Sailor and a Platinum last night, but I think this is a calling!

That is a beast of a nib! I’ve only got the 3776s in medium so far, so maybe for the next one I’ll upsize 😁 That ink is lovely 😍

I have this nib in a different finish. It's a fun nib for showing off an ink. Not so great for daily writing, but I don't think that was what it was designed for anyway.

Your videos were very helpful when i wanted to look at writing samples with the coarse. How broad is the line width, if you’ve ever measured it

Thank you thank you! I was just considering a coarse 3776 and I don’t think that you’ve reviewed one (barring the nakayas) Ps: pen chalet, please send azizah a lamy 2000 double broad to review/compare with this ;)

Gosh that nib is crazy!! What paper (besides Rhodia) would you recommend for it?

I have the exact same pen. The more vertically you hold it the thinner the line. Is this the equivalent of a Sailor zoom nib?
@gourmetpens3 жыл бұрын
The coarse is just more round. I don’t think it’s designed for changes but you could have it modified!

Just got mine from pen chalet as well in laurel green. I’m struggling with the coarse nib as I’m finding it overly broad and yet dry...not as juicy as yours. So strange. I love the laurel green and I’m hoping this will grow on me over time and perhaps change to a wetter ink. I don’t regret the purchase but just wanted to share that I bought the pen based on your review and I’m sure this isn’t the last time I’ll buy a pen based on your excellent reviews!

My favorite nib! 😍 I have a nagasawa pen style den demonstrator with a coarse nib and it is my favorite for using in my hobonichi. ❤ Also, any idea how this compares to a sailor zoom?

i’ll do a video on that!

Azizah- thank you for your reviews. In this pen, what do you like better, coarse or the music nib? You made it sound like you prefer the music nib. If so, is there a reason why?

I love the 3776, but I don't even like broad nibs, let alone double broad.
