Another good one, thank you. You prompted me to read it again, so I guess the Great Conversation goes on.

Do you accept the authoritarian or liberal interpretation when it comes to the Crito?
@ThinkingWest2 жыл бұрын
A difficult question. I don't really accept either as the all or nothing answer. I think Socrates and Plato both had some authoritarian leanings; I would describe them more like statists, or fans of oligarchies over democracies. Socrates surely understood the difference between just and unjust laws. In fact, he claimed to have disobeyed an order to identify a dissenter of the new democracy. I think he was really just a believer in the process of government to a fault - so I probably lean slightly toward the authoritarian interpretation, though I'm not fond of that thinking.

It says in this video that his trial was “a day or two ago” but wasn’t it about a month or so? While the religious ceremonies were going on?

Let's see. It's been awhile. I believe the was imprisoned immediately after the trial, and yes, spent more than the normal few days in prison due to the ceremonies (during which executions were typically delayed). So, good catch.

Would Socrates get Vaccinated?

Interesting question...I'm sure there are many "What would Socrates Do?" questions we could ask of relevance today.
