Wow! Thank you, that's a great comment. Yes, that's exactly what I was aiming for: not just showing a scale, but how to play the notes within the scale to make something musical not just sound like running up and down the scale, which is usually how we all start soloing. Well, it was for me anyway

Just a note to all: I have played on and off for 35+ years as a self taught guitarist. Mostly collecting tabs and fixing to original songs. I play open, bar, and modified bar chords. Some theory. I’ve bought some blues courses but they never kept my interest. Marc’s turnaround lesson and simple playalongs in A turned on a light. It took a week (older age, I can’t practice for long) before I memorized my first lesson. I combined it with the turnaround lesson and started hearing variations in my head. Watching TV, I was hearing new variations in my head and would run to my guitar to try it. While playing along with a lesson, I started playing my own variations and finished the 12 bars in time. Everyone is different but a number of these lessons (I’m doing all in A so far) will go far to advancing blues improv. My next goal and suggestion would be a lesson of chords and solo notes combination or singing soloing (call response). Keeping it simple is great. Keep up the good work. Gives me something to do during lockdown as an expat in the Philippines.

Philam in the Philippines just echoed my thoughts .. i’m not an Expat, but I am living in the US Virgin Islands and the isolation of any place like this can be difficult, … especially when it’s so damn hot during hurricane season. That said, I’ve felt the blues in me all my life, but I always played a woodwind and a little piano. … My dad was skeptical of guitars when they were first “invented “ (in his mind) and so he made me play clarinet like Benny Goodman and I evolved into saxophone. … 50 years later, I have decided to learn guitar licks and I have a wonderful Cole Clark Busker quality guitar to do it. It is really hard to get used to the idea of six strings and chords but I am going to master this and I refuse to take any more lessons until I learn this lesson and the other one by this producer. I like the way he talks and I like the way he thinks.. and I plan to do the same myself and at least learn A Pentatonic . 🙏🏾thanks everyone!

Marc, thanks so much. Loved your format and providing tabs and backing track. I'll be playing with this a while. 69 year old-beginner/intermediate player. Been playing mostly rhythm lately, because blues solos seemed too confusing. Subbed, GT

This is great - Thanks so much! I have been stuck in the "playing the scales" mode - just can't seem to turn them into music. This is helping me get past that

Thanks Marc. Great lesson. I'm a novice so I really appreciate your teaching style. Even little 'tips' like using finger 3 for the pentatonic scale.

Hey Marc, another nice lick lesson. I can play those all day and enjoy it. Listen, one of these days let's get a look at the back of that beautiful blue Strat

Hi Lin - you want to see that back of the G&L?
@linheitzig69165 жыл бұрын
Marc Guitar Sure would. Love that guitar

Another superb lesson Mark! Like that you stay in A minor. Areal springboard for mixing sound and technique. Very cool that you added the tip about thumb positioning. I like bending, Gilmour is where I'm going, so that was huge. Regards.

Hi John - Bending is such a cool sound. I use it all the time. Gilmour is one of my fav guitarists

Another brilliant lesson Marc. I'm not a total beginner, I'm self taught and love the blues, but never found anything on yt that's helped me start to be able to play this genre, albeit rudimentary, like your videos. I feel I'm finally getting somewhere. Thanks for taking the time and effort to post them☺ It's also nice that you're a fellow northener (I live in Cheshire)!!

Thank you, that's very kind. I'm really pleased to hear that the videos are helping you. Cheshire is just down the road from where I grew up!
