I knew about that when I had my NES with SMB/Duck Hunt cartridge with Zapper box in the 80s. There has been "news" every now and then about this feature. To me it's kinda weird that folks didn't knew about it.

Do note that a bunch of people played those games in the early 2000s via bootleg consoles. News about these games were sparse during those years.

You can shoot the dog in VS. Duck Hunt in the arcades (if you manage to get to the bonus game), or just hack a rom.

There should seriously be a "mystery/horror thriller" parody episode where we find out why so many Seans have shown up. Either that or it could be happening because they just keep putting on Famicom 3-D System glasses and then multiply excessively as a result.
@FamicomDojo5 жыл бұрын
We definitely have to do that. It would be epic.

I would prank my friends and family members while they played back in the day :) Just hide the controller in your lap and discretely increase the difficulty! So much fun messing with them!

You can shoot the dog, but you need a repro cart of "VS Duck Hunt".

Sean, do either you or Kevin own the Family Gun, the Japanese version of the Zapper? It's revolver shaped (making it almost look like a _real_ gun) and it's trigger is much more satisfying to pull than the trigger of the Zapper. the hammer can even be locked, although it really serves no purpose. I sold mine a while ago, so I can't make any content for it. But if you guys have one, I'd love to see you give it some exposure.
@SeanOrange9 жыл бұрын
We have one, just trying to figure out how to safely get it to the U.S. without customs taking it.
@SatoshiMatrix19 жыл бұрын
That's Orange Wrap the cord around the barrel as much as possible, and clearly label the package as "TOY LIGHTGUN FOR VIDEOGAME". Or simply call US customs and explain your concerns and ask what they suggest. I wouldn't go as far as to say "it looks like a real gun so what should I do" but more "I want to import a toy light sensing gun-shaped toy for video games and am concerned it could possibly be mistaken for an actual firearm, which it definitely is not."

I've got a few related questions. I recently picked up an AV Famicom, and after Stone Age Gamer comes out with their improved 72-60 pin converter, I want to start rebuilding my NES collection. Can I use a regular Zapper with it, or will I have to track down a Japanese gun that can be plugged into the extension port? If a Zapper does work with it, will it only work with NES games, or can it be used with Famicom games as well? Can a Famicom gun be used with NES games?
@SeanOrange9 жыл бұрын
The Zapper (or any other NES peripheral) will not work on an AV Famicom because they are wired differently. Because the NES was designed with no extension port, its pins were rolled into the P2 port instead. A Famicom Light Gun would work on an NES if you got a converter from the Ext plug to an NES one. Similarly, if you could find an NES to Ext converter you could use a Zapper et al on a Famicom.
@TBustah9 жыл бұрын
That's Orange Okay, but regarding the latter, I was talking about when playing NES light gun games on an AV Famicom... will a Famicom light gun work with them, or (since you've said that a Zapper won't work) is there just no way?
@SeanOrange9 жыл бұрын
The games should be identical. For a future video we are working on, I tracked down an NES copy of Wild Gunman with a Famciom converter inside.
@TBustah9 жыл бұрын
That's Orange I wasn't aware that "Wild Gunman" was one of the games that had those. Cool. Anyway, thanks for the info. I trust you'll throw an obligatory BTTF2 reference into that review? XD
