For example: GSW was together a long time before their 1st championship which was 5 years of being together. I’m from houston and was raised in our championship squad era, it was my introduction to basketball and both sides are correct lol Houstonian’s think back to that squad and would say the core was Olajuwon, Thorpe, Kenny Smith, Maxwell and then Horry and Sam Cassell in that order. BUT!!! When it came to that finals against the Knicks who ppl had winning cause the city of houston had never won a major championship in any sport some of our core FOLDED and the people who contributed the most were Olajuwon, Thorpe, Horry, Carl Herrera, and then Sam Cassell in that order for the first 5 games. With Maxwell and Kenny smith finally showing up after but had it not been for those above contributions there wouldn’t have been no game 6&7 for the others to show up too Smith especially had TRAGIC games 1-5 where he couldn’t even stay on the court with Derrick Harper for more the 3 mins at most at a time. Leading to tickets point that casssell was more useful in the finals than smith but not all season to get to the finals which is why it is a nuanced discussion in a sense that both sides well chill and low are absolutely right while ticket still has a lot of points that rings true. Which leads me to say they both right but arguing like one another’s wrong which is the heart of sports debate if you ask me lol really enjoyed this one 🔥👍🏾
